Such a nice back story. You are the proper steward with appreciation. I inherited a beloved Cherry Martin guitar from a dear friend. Every time I open the case... I say "Hello Gary!" in just the positive and optimistic voice he would greet his friends!

That’s nice! I obviously have a few of Chris’ guitars and there’s certainly a sense of him every time I use one. Perhaps these videos will help the memory go down the line after I’m gone.

I keep seeing that 50s single coil P Bass peeking into your videos. I'd love to see more of it! Great story about that Style O by the way. It drums in the lesson that we just look after these instruments for a little part of their lives.

Hey. I did a video but the sound was messed up. Will do it one day again. It’s a 1952 and very nice! One of the things about instruments that is forever amazing is the idea that as well as being functional tools they’re things that we look after for the next generation.

Can’t believe that the front sleeve of Brothers in arms didn’t get a mention in this video!

So many things to mention and the video is already double the length intended but we wanted to honour this lovely man mentioned. It’s a 1937 on the the Brothers In Arms cover. Funnily enough the town of Pudsey where Knopfler lived while working in Leeds in the 1970s can be seen from the window that’s behind in the video. Other videos of ours like ‘A History of Resonator Instruments’ do mention that particular cover. It’s an important part of resonator history that is linked to our home city via the incredible Steve Phillips.

Inventor The one you’ve shared is a copy made by a company called NRP (National Resophonic) of a 14 fret body version. The one in the video is a real genuine one from 1934. In 1934 they changed from 12 to 14 fret body shapes. They are pluses and minuses to vintage vs modern debates. Our video ‘How To Choose a Resonator Guitar’ attempts to deal with the differences and compares a modern one with a genuine old one. Hope it helps.

Such a moving story Martyn, I think your friend knew very well that you are the right person to have this guitar.

I love how all is old time and blues guys are after cheap freaking guitars lol cheaper and older the better. Got a couple holes in it? Great! Cause we're all after that old time sound and those guys bought their guitars at the drugstore 😂
