naming winter storms is dumb. why not name every low pressure system that produces tornadoes during summer while you’re at it?

Not really practical as tornadoes are kind of like parasites as they don’t need be in an organized cyclone’s frontal boundaries to form. A regular summer time thunderstorm formed from hot rising air could spawn a tornado. Winter storms are just mostly any extratropical cyclone that traverses the US
