Additional Notes: You don't have to make the micro cord section as long as I did, it's actually better a little shorter. You can adjust the lengths as you see fit of course. Also, for added security, you can add a drop of super glue where the double snake knot meets the 550 paracord. Happy Weaving!

for some reason micro cord is hard to find where I am. do you think cotton baker's twine would also work? or is it too weak? otherwise I was thinking mason's line?

DUDE I watched you years and years back when I first got into paracord. I've fallen out of the hobby recently (school and work) and was curious what happened to you Very happy to see you still posting. Keep paracording buddy!

I like it. I attached the micro cord to the cords inside some 550 then pulled the micro thru. Tie knot in micro and pull knot inside 550 to hide. This will make a loop with micro longer than the 550. (reading this sounds horrible, but very basic design.) Then tie decorative knot or burn the 550 to clean it up.

Nice idea, but very hard to follow because several times you re-oriented the piece. Especially the last snake knots. Hard to follow where the orange loop end vs. the tail cords (2 loose orange cords).

I love those cheap little lanyards. Almost never use them for the product they’re included with because they’re not typically well made and seemingly just tossed in as an afterthought or a “free gift.” So, I don’t trust them for anything hefty and/or valuable. But, they’re great for tiny little doodads that tend to disappear easily. I bought a pack of neon ones to put on small flashlights/knives/thumb drives so they stick out a bit better amongst everything. It’s a lot easier to find the black flashlight in a deep black-lined pocket inside a bag full of other dark/black gadgets when you know it has a neon green streamer attached to it. Now I have to make custom-colored lanyards for all the things…

Excellent video! I use these lanyards on quite a lot of tech and tools. I wasn't concerned about them breaking as I had what I thought was an infinite supply of various sizes that I bought at an auction years ago but am almost out of now. I looked at replacements and just couldn't justify the cost. This is an excellent alternative that puts to use some of the accumulating pile of scrap that I have aquired over the years. I never thought of using micro or nano cord in conjunction with 550 to make replacement lanyards of this type. Thanks for sharing this very useful video.

Thanks for this, I've never liked carry strap they throw in with the device but is there anything smaller than micro cord? I have some pocket flashlights that have holes to attach the strap that are slightly larger than sewing thread, I could use the 550 inner strands but would rather have something with color. Do you have any recommendations?

I find the sharpie can rub off, but if I re-heat with the lighter it bonds into the plastic and becomes truly permanent

Ok so instead of tying a 'stopper' type knot in the microcord which could potentially pull through your snake knots... When you poke the microcord through the snake knots (untied), tie the ends off by wrapping around the two strands of paracord with something like a double fishermans knot, clove hitch or constrictor knot and singe the end, that way it can never pull through and you get a nice bit of detail above your snake knots.

Nice video, but couldn't the microcord be pulled through with enough force?
@TheWeaversofEternity2 жыл бұрын
I tried and I pulled quite hard, to the point where the micro cord was hurting my finger and it didn't pull through. Most importantly it passed the drop test, where I was holding the item and let it drop and the force of it snapping down on the lanyard did not cause the micro cord to pull through.
