Never too early to teach them to be helpful around the house and to take pride in keeping things clean in their own home. We loved when my mom taught us how to hang our clothes properly. It was a source of pride for us. Making our beds each morning and having her proud of us for our accompliishments meant the world to us. But even more than that, because she wasn't busy doing all off the housework, she was able to spend more time with us! My mom played video games like no one's business!!! Great job mom!

It’s good when kids learn to do things themselves. That way when they get bigger and need to do things for themselves, they’ll know how. I went to college with people that had never done their own laundry. I went to overnight camp with girls who had no idea how to make their beds. These are great life skills. Yes…even taking out the trash. You’ll be so happy that you taught them these things when you did. It’ll free you and your hubby up so much when you and the girls get older. Lol.

My daughter is almost 20. I always had her help me around the house. Now it’s just second nature for her to pick up around the house. I don’t need to ask. Her room is always clean, bed is always made. I also would have her run to the supermarket for me to grab 2 or 3 things when she first got her driver’s license. Now she can do a complete food shopping order. I also had her in the kitchen with me when I was cooking. Now she can make a meal. Because of those small little things she can run a home. Y’all are doing a great thing by teaching them household chores.

You are absolutely right teach your children household chores when they are young. When children are young they want to help they are happy to help. And they love learning something that Mommy can do. My mother never taught me how to keep house. All she cared about was school and grades. I guess she thought somehow I would just know it. But I didn't . when I moved into my own place I didn't know where to start. I wanted to help when I was a child, but my mother said she could do it faster with less mess. Well she ended up with a grown up daughter who didn't keep house. Fortunately I did go to college and was able to earn enough to hire part-time help to clean my house. My mom would criticize me for paying a housekeeper. But I told her the reason I work so hard in college was so I could get a job where I could afford some help. But I think it would have b e e n so much better to have taught me some household chores when I was young and asking her to let me help. Now I dread every household chore.

My niece and nephews have been filling and emptying the dishwasher every night since they were 5. They take out the the trash each night. The 10 year old twins mow the lawn and pull weeds. The teenager weed wacks the edges of the lawn. They make their beds and clean their bathroom. They set the table. I don't think your girls are too young for chores. (Except Macy ❤️😁)

My only tip as a mom of 5 adult kids is to take care of each load of laundry as they get done. It will alleviate the huge piles stacking up.
@kassysorenson66362 жыл бұрын
This! I’m also a mom of five. And one thing that has really helped me. Is doing a load a day. Monday is my catch up day from the weekend. But that’s only about 3 loads. I try to make folding fun. It’s my time in the day( usually during naptime) I sit on the floor and watch a show or KZbin video. Laundry gets wash, dryed, folded and put away everyday. It’s become a routine. And doing it everyday there’s usually not much to put away.
