I love that she said her name when you asked whose birthday it was. 😂 My 11yo daughter said she loves Braylee's style and wants the same hoodie as her. 🖤 I totally get what you said about having to redirect her when she begins to get fixated on something she wants - my youngest girl is the same way. I have been asking my autistic students questions and adding "yes or no?" At the end. It has been incredible. I feel like i have learned so much more about them and what they want or need in that moment. I learn a lot from you, but that specifically has been so valuable! Keep making a difference!

It does mean a lot that her friends included her at the dance. I was delighted to hear that. I'm sure they understood the issue with the beach balls, too, but it sounds you did the best thing by leaving. She does have a strong personality and I think that will only make her more resilient as she gets older.

I always knew it though 😎 Ohhh and for checking things out at the counter, a worker showed me that you just twist the item in the air over the scanning platform or have a general idea where the bar code is and then slide in the air between the side and bottom panel. Either the side or bottom scanner will get the code. I used to do it like how you guys are doing it, but that worker blew my mind 🤯 I guess it explains how some people ring things up super fast

Braylee is still very young, but she's growing up. The dance sounded fun, sorry about the beach balls, I know thats part of her behavior where she gets rigid and fixated and you've mentioned strategies to help with that like not having routines. I was wondering about a few things though, why is it that she has to be supervised 24 hours a day? School is a very structured environment with supervision, and teachers at every corner, so why does she have to have a para with her at all times. Do you think she feels different because of that, like does she notice none of her other friends have a para, or will it bother her as she gets deeper into the teen years. Also was wondering at the dance did you notice boys and girls mingling more then elementary school, and how will you deal with her friends having crushes etc. Or is romance something Braylee will not understand.

Yea. There are definitely times when we just can’t due to work, responsibilities, etc though. I would like to think we would still give her a fantastic childhood either way.

Could Kaitlyn go with Braylee if she does anything with friends? Considering their relationship that could be a possibility. Shes with someone trusted, gets to see her friends and the parents get a well deserved break! If the other kids ask who is kaitlyn, she can say grown up friend, mentor or family friend.

She knows the difference and uses scissors often. We notice the only time she goes for her hair is when she gets slime in it.
