Undoubtedly "modern" - whatever that word means - but surely not radical. This particular performance beautifully accentuates literally and figuratively - the new type of embracing aspects of more popular types of music ala Copland and even DeBussy while incorporating romantic qualities of "sturm und drang." Great palette cleanser when taking a break from the second Viennese school and the ultra modern sensibilities of Carter and Maderna.
