Andrew you are awesome, my husband Fern is a trapper and I have learned so many things from him about wildlife. Fern has been very successful this year in trapping and has over 200 furs for the auction house. His trappers helpers have enjoyed the experience as well. I have watched all your videos. I envy your lifestyle. It is what i wanted to do when I was young but had a wife and kids, so took a job and worked in a cage. Hunted and fished whenever I could but not much chance for adventure in Ohio.I would love to come up and visit you and fish for some northern pike. I could cut wood for you and help you prepare for winter. I cut about 15 cords of hardwood a year. I have heated with wood since 1981.

Interesting about your packing material of snow - tricks of the trade are always good. Animals shortcomings are interesting, too. Like, that lynx, if he didn't assume that stick holding him was like a tree with roots, could have pulled it up out of the ground with his jaws, I'm thinking. No? Andrew, I always wonder what it's like at night out in the winter bush - are there wolves howling off somewhere, or just silence, or can you hear owls? One night I saw 3 owls on the highway up that way.

Nice with 2 in the same set. Think that the Belisle 330 super x snap harder round the neck then i do not think they can stay alive for long time. Nice to see your movies again yeea !! :-)

Well done,love to see your side of the world,we don't have those but we got millions of Opossum,we used to skin them but now we pluck the fear and it fetches 150.00NZ$ per Kg.Good and safe trapping,and5*.From the NZ boys.

just a little tip.when the ground is frozen or if it rains n freezes i use peat moss. its awesome. no water can get through it.it runs off so your trap wont freeze up on ya! highly recommended. mess around with it n you'll see what i mean! nice double by the way!! very impressive!

thats nights are awsome pure darkness just moonlight and northern lights pure dark the stars light up the sky. you hear the wind howling in the trees you hear owls you hear wolvs howling sometimes quite often you hear a rabbitscreaming while a predator animal is harvesting it for a meal it sounds just likea women crying out its loud and it echoes you can yell outin the woods and your voice echoes across the land and through the trees. in the summer you hear the river water running down stream

Andrew I love that you are back posting videos :D i love your way of life it is amazing to me.. you got me into trapping and i got some bunnies this year and a nice yote so thank you for teaching me i totally used one of your sets haha not sure which one but i had a group of willow branches in a little circle so i cut 2 of em to make like a 3/4 circle and i put a bunny carcass in there and snare stuck some small branches in front of it to lead him in and covered the trap with wax paper thanksman

Really great man! I use only snares this year for lynx but im thinking soft catch could really add to my catch. I like the tip up idea but I would need to spend some hours in the summer getting them ready...no green belly sounds good to me . anyway thanks man , love to see your videos. by the way, I built a cool little smoke house after watching your vids ..works great.

You could consider doing a night sounds video, it could be "highlights" only. Or several of them if there were some dramatic ones like prey/predator sounds. For the city dwellers like me, that would be sooooo cool! I saw a coyote right in the middle of peninsula Halifax last Friday, though. The wild has its ways of infiltrating. if the wolverine pelt was tanned it could fetch up to $1500. depends on the buyer. these wolverines i will skin them for taxedermy and i wont let them go for under $600.

yes all wolverine and wolfs get skinned cased fur complete cased feet all claws dont for taxedermy to be made into a full body mount. yes the flip ups are good i have to get a few more lynx in them. i might have to modef them a bit in the future but so far they working 100 percent.in a couple weeks after i get more lynx snares and legholds out i willplay with them some more set a couple diffrent ones once there constructed then i can use em year after year

So, last year I had this mouse at work that was trap wise as hell. I would go on down my mouse line every night expecting to find it but all I was gettin was empty bait and a sorry assed look on my face. So I got wise and brought my air gun to the work shop and set myself down real quiet about ten yards across the room from the fresh baited trap. A victor snap trap loaded with a dab a peanut butter. Pretty soon this mouse climbs up and starts licking. I lined up and pow! .177 on the shoulder. ;)

Yea ok next time I will try a taxidermist!!! What do you recommend trying to get a wolverine that has been caught before and is more aware and cautious to the surroundings?? Been trying to get it for almost 3 weeks so far!! Caught. The first one in a ram power snare!! And the second one keeps on going around my snares and my box sets but quickly backs out!!

that is a great question and yes i get disoriented once in a while usually wen it is overcast and cant see the sun i use the sun often to navigate through the woods. i have been lost for a couple hours and spent a night or two in the woods turned around. i always carry a compass and a spot with me a personal tracker.

Congrats! First one wolverine in one of your flip-ups, than two in the same set. How do you top that? The one you caught in that flip-up is probably a $550-600 wolverine. How much do you get when you prepare them for taxidermy?

im not sure if i got a video that goes into detail on the trigger its very simple and can be made with a drill bit some hay wire and a nail with the head snipped off i think i show it pretty good in trapping tails 1 or 2 from last winter. it is very simple

Your life on the trapline is more than awesome and the detail you use in your sets and ideas you come up with to improve and experiment when trying to outsmart furbearers shows you are in the right line of work. i trap here in newfoundland with an old trapper friend of mine and i have tried to talk him in to giving the 22 shorts a try for killing fox, and coyotes and stuff in leg holds and even snares some times but he wont even listen to me hahah he uses 22lr and thats it. he is just stuck in his ways. keep the videos coming man i love them!
