According to current information, a Top Fuel dragster can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 0.4 seconds making it one of the fastest accelerating vehicles in the world. Top Fuel dragster can pull up to 5.6 g's (55 m/s2) at peak acceleration and averages around 4.0 g's (39 m/s2) over the course of a race. This is equivalent to a gravitational force of five times the driver's body weight.

When it comes to acceleration, all cars are equally slow compared to a top fuel car. The acceleration is so mad that by the time the rear wheels reach where the front wheels started the car is already doing 160 km/h. The current record for dragsters is approximately 545 km/h in 3.6 seconds. So it's completely unfair to compare a top fuel car to any other car in terms of acceleration but it puts things into perspective.

@@jean-charlesplante7027 Yeah top fuel cars are much faster irl than in this video. In Assetto Corsa there is no drag strip that's properly prepped like they do in nhra so a top fuel car will get a lot more wheelspin than it would irl

I'm surprised at the amount of people that are surprised that the all-wheel drive fully electric formula e car is the best accelerating car in circuit motorsports. Also fia has been talking all about the fact that they actually achieved 1.8 0-60 mph during testing back when they unveiled the Gen 3 evo. And has been confirmed by the fia as the fastest accelerating car in world circuit motorsports currently.

@ the thing about f1 is that it doesn’t have traction control so you gotta modulate the throttle and you can’t get it perfect all the time plus f1 aerodynamics aren’t that effective at lower speeds so you have to mostly rely on mechanical grip (tires). The FE on the other hand has AWD and electric cars no matter road or race car would have the advantage over petrol cars due to the instant torque from the electric motor

In general you can tell there's a lot more wheelspin on most of the starts than there really should be. The inconsistency in amount of wheelspin make it a pretty inaccurate comparison as a whole.

Yes, a lot shorter. It's probably impossible to do in AC (I'm assuming that's the sim they make their videos with) though because I'm assuming this mod lacks the proper tire model for the dragster (dragster rear tires flatten when they start and then rapidly expand as they gain more speed). AC was never written to simulate it.

Top fuel cars hit 60mph within 60ft of the starting line. They launch faster than a fighter jet being flung off a carrier. Seeing them in videos doesn’t do it justice. The sound is… immense. The pressure waves they produce can be measured as a 3.2 magnitude earthquake. They don’t need bigger wings than they have because each one of the 8 exhaust headers they have produce almost 200lbs of downforce. An 1/8th mile into the run, the spark plugs have melted away and the engine runs like a diesel. They burn about 12 gallons of nitromethane per quarter mile run, and that’s not counting the burnout as that’s typically done on pump gas. They are a violent spectacle to behold. I’ve been privileged to stand near these things when they make a run, and words can’t really describe the total assault on the senses those machines are. The nitro fumes make your eyes water and your nose run, the pressure shakes every bone in your body and can make your vision blur. It’s fucking awesome.

I appreciate the video but the 0-60 time of a top fuel dragster is actually faster than 1 second. It's closer to .4-.8 of a second. They cover 1,000 feet in about 3.5 second. They are the fastest accelerating vehicle in all of motorsport thought that is correct.

There is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING on planet earth that compares to a top fuel dragster. 0-100mph in .8 seconds. 1/8 mile under 3 seconds and 301 + mph and no EV will EVER cover 1,000 ft in 3.6 seconds @ 340mph. A top fuel dragster makes the equivalent of 8 megawatts and there's no ev technology available to survive that much current in that period of time. Nothing is even close.

The figures aren't very realistic. A Top Fuel Dragster in the real world is twice as quick (0-100mph in 0.8 seconds, so the 0-62mph would be around 0.4 seconds) also many of the circuit racing cars have gearing which is horrible for standing starts, so their 0-62mph is way worse than a road car with the same power to weight ratio.

The oval version of Indy car had less overall horsepower. It’s not nearly as quick 0-60, more like 4.5 seconds. NASCAR is much the same. I remember a tv show years ago in which they had Jeremy Mayfield’s Dodge Charger cup car and were doing 0-60 runs with it. About 4.5 seconds was the best they could do. Those cars, like Indy cars, are geared for top speed.
