I don't know what to feel about this judgment. I am a "privilege" Dalit and on principle I never took reservation, but still people called me Chamar, I still have to hide my caste when looking for stay, I still have a type of baggage or say chip on my shoulder that I'm lower and undeserving of things. I have to look for people who are not casteist to call them friend, I have to be aware of my caste situation when dating, or just gulp my fate when my teachers who I look up to discriminate. The government jobs are already diminishing and there are rarely any good job and in all that they give judgement like this and instead of providing more opportunity.

Once Ambedkar said that caste is like a cage. You born in it and you die in it. There is no escape. Caste can't die and we can't escape it. Therefore, the only way left for Dalits is what Ambedkar told to our people. Educate, organize and agitate. Dalits have to be become strong enough (socially, politically, economically) to fight against these people who do caste discrimination and get justice.

Corruption, casteism, and communalism are significant issues. All successive governments, as well as the people, are responsible. People should question these problems but often do not ask, reason, or rationalize due to a lack of education.

It's the most atrocious comment by Anurag Thakur. It shows his culture and background. He is the epitome of a bad test and culture. Most irresponsible comment by an MP. Supported by the PM and the entire BJP indicates their obnoxious mentality. BJP is extremely worried about their future too.

🇮🇳🙏🇮🇳 The Supreme Court upholding on SC/ST creamy layer is absolutely correct. I myself from the unreserved category know very well that what discrimination we face at the time of getting admission, jobs, promotions enhancement in career even after eligible for it. I know so many people from reserved category who were working with me and we were great friends in thick and thin, having a flourishing life because of getting all opportunities at the right time and no need for any economical support. They never used to hide their caste and no-one even bothered or thought of calling them so. So why reservations for their siblings or children. Why can't this opportunity be given to those who have never had this option to have one. Why can't they be called creamy layer? Why their children etc. can't compete with the unreserved category for selection? What's wrong in it? The constitution had never said that the reservations should be extended to generations but to one family one time. But it never happened as the govermements keep on modifying this policy for their own benefit. So saying that the people from reserved category are hiding their castes etc. to join the society is not at all correct.🇮🇳🙏🇮🇳

the creamy layer subject can be welcome however before that, can the honorable judges ensure social acceptability of all communities are implemented, such as inter caste marriages, allowing all community equal treatments in temples, etc?

Reserved seats are available to all SC people equally. Reserved seats are mostly in all the job categories remain vacant. Then how come this idea is formed that few people are not getting benefits because others are getting. Seats are still vacant for other sc people who are termed as not suitable. Reservation gives a chance to win a seat to those who have worked harder. Reservation does not make some work harder to get higher marks. Reservation is just a helping hand. These other sc communities are left behind, because political system doesn't want them to move up in social life. Inadequate education facilities and prejudice against children from these castes is the reason why some sc people are left behind.

If the creamy layer will not be given reservation, this means only one or two generations have got the benefits of reservation, but how many generations were deprived of education and opportunities? For 5000 years and so many generations of SC/ST have been traumatized and deprived of education, and now the upper caste thinks we have benefitted, will this mean that the creamy layer will not face any discrimination?

Caste is related to profession one is doing in earlier times. Can anybody determine caste of Rahul Khan? Most people today are doing profession outside their caste they belong to originally. Caste is only a sticker today. Today logic of caste and reservation is irrelevant. It should be earning based and not caste. If government wants she should remove people who are doing business out side caste and put them under financial reservation.

The main attack against the caste hierarchy is, it is patriarchal and endogamus. But Rahul Ghandy once claimed (proudly!!!) as a Kaul Brahmin. Just for the sake of argument one can ask "How can he be a Brahmin when the caste identity is patriarchal and endogamus - as we all know his grandpa was a parsi?" Is he ashamed of his grandpa's identity not to have claimed it? Besides, caste is attacked being self-preserving thru being endogamus. If so how a half-blood can claim any hindu identity for that matter at all? Rahul Ghandy is the standing example of the idiom: (pretending) to run with the hares, (but in reality) hunt with the hounds.

Caste hierarchy is also a social fact which is a coercive and the fact that you want to know what a person's caste is just show the kind of bias that exist in peoples' minds about the importance of belonging to any caste. You don't know RG and probably never will, but if you find that asking such a question is legitimate from random person or even the PM, it just goes to show that prejudice is still connected to caste.

@user-ox2om3bo9h Rahul Ghandy had invited it. Besides he claimed he is a brahmin (though cannot be). Therefore, you don't have a problem someone claiming himself a brahmin? He has actually implied that he accepts there are castes of lower births. Is it acceptable to you? If yes, nothing wrong if someone asks for its veracity.
