Nice! I had a bad experience years ago with a deep fried oyster. However, while in NZ my in-laws and husband convinced me to try oyster on the half shell - I believe they were Blue point oysters. They were amazing! I wish we could find quality oysters here, I'd certainly try this! Looks fab!

Looks great Larry, cheese isn't traditionally used on fried seafood poboys. I like it but it's uncommon down here. You gonna hitch a ride with Keith to the Spring Fling Boy?
@TheWolfePit
@TheWolfePit 10 жыл бұрын
Umm....maybe you should pay attention BOY! So I guess Emeril and the Chef at Mahoney's in New Orleans don't know what they're doing? I made mine exactly like his - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIjPhp2mf61mbbcm8s
@007bondjb
@007bondjb 10 жыл бұрын
I aint say that, Cheese isn't added to fried seafood poboys unless it requested. Cheese is a distraction from the flavor of the fried seafood, Emeril & other chef are always experimenting with food, call it fad. If You Like add it. Kinda like adding cheese to a pulled pork sammy, That would be Non Union in my book
@germyw
@germyw 6 жыл бұрын
TheWolfePit Emeril isn't from Louisiana. He's taking licence. No cheese on an oyster poboy, bacon either. Looks great but I wouldn't have Louisiana folks over for poboys and automatically add cheese and bacon. Nope. One might suggest it, I guess

@TheWolfePit
@TheWolfePit 10 жыл бұрын
Lynda, I know you and Don follow a strict diet carb-wise and the corn meal is a good option.......but I think it's too gritty for your taste. I am not sure if this will work, but it's worth a try.....if you have a small spice blender, that might get it fine enough to give you a better texture you prefer. I agree, MORE PICKLES next time1!!

That looked deeelicious! Very nicely done, Larry, good to go! Hey what kind of oil do you prefer to fry your oysters in? I use peanut, t corn adds a touch of sweetness that compliments the oyster. Anyway, superb po' boy there, thanks for sharing!
@TheWolfePit
@TheWolfePit 10 жыл бұрын
Thank you John! Honestly, I usually use vegetable oil. With corn meal, there's so little oil absorption, I could probably use valvoline and wouldn't notice the difference! I do love using peanut oil for most things, but it's so expensive!!
@RivetGardener
@RivetGardener 10 жыл бұрын
***** Wow, in Virginia even! That's strange, here in the midwest it is only about a dollar and a half more per quart than corn oil. Okay...I'll send you some peanut oil and you send me some of that great Chesapeake Bay seafood! :)
