I was thrilled when they won Star Search in 1983. They were so fresh and fun! And they're still touring, sounding as great as ever.

i remember the line at 1:50 "i'm passing little white lines and my eyes are open wide" in the orignal version by Dave Dudley the line was "i'm popping little white pills..." but they changed it, to make it more PC i guess.

They also changed the lyrics in the section where he talks about having multiple women in other areas.

Changed it not to be PC, but able to be played to wider audiences. Drug use is frowned on in the Country community, and the "little white pills" is a reference to an illegal drug. Until fairly recently, "ass" was also widely censored and "son of a bitch" in the album version of Devil Went Down To Georgia had to be replaced with "son of a gun" for radio broadcast standards, for example. You'll find a bunch of songs that will lead up to "ass" or go to "son of a -" and then suddenly change train of thought or get an instrumental in place of the word. It's just part of the more family-oriented nature of the genera. We want our little kids to be able to listen to this music, and not be picking up bad words before they get into gradeschool.

@@vladyvhv9579 Another example is in the song "Girl on the Billboard" by Del Reeves. When the billboard painter tells him to "get the ___ on" his way, they use a guitar chord instead of the expletive.

This is a remake of an old trucker song. Dave Dudley did it back in the 70's if I remember correctly.

This was a cover of Dave Dudley's first big hit from 1963. The Sawyer Brown cover came out in 1991.

Your bandana is Fire Suzi in every sense Suzi ! In fact the colours remind of it . If I listen to drums during the beginning I think that the interpretation of the metrical division by the player is really cool ! His choices are pretty original . He begins with pretty sincopated upbeat (in terms of 'controtempo' in italiano) . More of fills that simply drive tempo . Country blues is insane ihih

As a musician, I think Sawyer Brown's version is FAR superior to Dave Dudley's. The original is not always the best
@eric79222 жыл бұрын
@@mandymcinerney2816 I’m a musician as well, not professional, but I plink around. Imo, Sawyer Brown’s version is cookie cutter new age country with zero dynamism, just soft bellied rocknroll acting like country. The Dudley version oozes dynamism, the guitar sound, the background singers stellar vocals, personifying the rig and Dudley’s more than just original voice. The Dudley version is the definitive version.
@mandymcinerney28162 жыл бұрын
@@eric7922 We obviously disagree. There are many times I think the cover version is better than the original. For example John Cougar Mellencamp did an awesome cover of Buddy Holly's "Rave On". Far better than the original. As for singing ability, Dave Dudleys voice is inferior to Sawyer Brown. Like I said, the original isn't always the best

@@mandymcinerney2816 The universe could grow cold and dark and you still wouldn’t convince me this is the better version. They’re having fun, people like the tune, that’s all that really matters.

I'm bored with these cover versions. The first version is by Paul Davies (1961). Dave Dudley made this song a hit (1963), and this is the real version.
