Her partner plays in Swallow the Sun (Finnish). She recorded some solo stuff and last year he finally got their record label to release an album of it on her birthday called "Aleah". She died entirely too young.

Aleah wrote the song "my requiem " for the same album. It's also a very powerful and poetic song

This music is soul-piercing. Don't think that I've ever been hit that hard than by that album. Fell in love with Aleah's voice when she sang on Amorphis' Under the Red Cloud album and didn't learn about her untimely death until the day I got Hour of the Nightinggale. To listen to any of those songs from that album (especially "My Requiem") is still devastating 5 years after.

My top songs from this album are Eye Of Night, Broken Mirror, A Million Tears, Hour Of The Nightingale & Gallows Bird. I think those capture the sheer emotion that she must have been going through knowing she is dying. Especially Gallows Bird. I think a lot of that is about accepting that you are going to die. I start bawling every time I hear Gallows Bird when I consider that extra layer of she was likely writing that in the last stages of her life.
