Keyboard virtuoso Jon Lord (RIP - sadly missed) is also an original member from 1968 and Ian Gillan and Roger Glover both joined the band in 1969.
@michaelkarlsson59667 күн бұрын
yes, it's a little unclear if "Jerry" knows this or not. Maybe he meant that Ian Paice is the only member who has been in every Deep Purple line-up so far? Jon Lord was in every line-up until he left and started working more seriously on his classical music (and that lovely blues band he was in that I forget the name of...)

"Jerry says: Ian Paice is the only member since from 1968"... actually, in this video still there's Jon Lord, co-founder of the band. Roger Glover (bass) left the band for some years and came back in 1984. Ian Gillan - the singer - joined the band with Glover in 1969 (were the second singer and bass player) and after 2 periods of left-and-come, Gillan mantained with the band since 1992 until nowadays. About Montreux: is a knowed city in Switzerland where a famous festival occurs: Montreux Jazz Festival. Besides this festival, many rock'n roll artists/bands over the years perform concerts there.

A lot of smoke on a lake resulted in a very famous tune after Frank Zappa and his band had to stop playing.

You want to hear a battle? Check out "Strange Kind of Woman" from the "Made in Japan" live album (audio version). Ian and Ritchie do an awesome back-and-forth. I wore that cassette out at least 3 times.

Thanks again Travis and Suzi. Great reaction on Speed King. Deep Purple has had a number of guitar players over the years, but my favorites are Steve Morse and Ritchie Blackmore. And Jon Lord----so sad we don't have his musical genius anymore. A tip------don't drive listening to Speed King------you might get pulled over for speeding. 🤣🤣🤣

I first heard this on a live album at the BBC. I listened to it a lot because: a) I liked it & b) I didn't have many records lol. I've never actually heard the studio version. The version I heard was killer. This is better. I lost my record collection nearly 30 years ago & have never seen a CD version of that record, so this reaction inspired me to find a version on Spotify. Which I'm about to listen to. With really nice headphones. Thanks Wolfhunterz:).

because education is not brought to you, you have to get it yourself. Americans are very self-centred and think they are better than the rest of the world.

Very very good musicians of course but i don't like the more than seven minutes of jammin, good for them boring for me. The way they play the song though is absolutely great except for the jammin haha. Next time i ,m gonna listen to this song i'm going for the Studio version.

I would say they're equal in talent, just different styles
@RiderOftheNorth196810 күн бұрын
@@BeerensTransport I don´t compare them talent wise. I say that Steve is better for Deep Purple. A big difference. With Steve they found the hunger and joy of playing again. Something that was a seldom thing with Ritchie. Steves rejuvenated the band.
