100% agree. Seen them live at least 6 times. Actually met Chris and Scott a few time. First time was in 2001 also met their old Drummer Trav Dempsey (really funny guy). Second time was in 2004 (where I also met Andy). Third and last was in 2017, weirdly Scott remembered me from the previous occasion because of my "Aliens probe Canadians" t-shirt that I've been wearing to pretty much every concert I've been to since I was 14 (I'm not canadian, I bought it at a record store back in 1999, one of a kind. I'm 38 now and it still fits). Would love to see them again if they ever come to town.

In 1996 Green Day’s Australian Tour came along, Chris Chaney and Scott Owens found out about it and put together a small package of DIY merchandise, including the band´s first EP, and sent it over with a note saying something like “Can we open for you in Australia?” Two months went by, and they received a call from an Australian producer who told them that Billy Joe Armstrong (a die-hard fan) got the package, loved the name of the band and the songs, and asked for them. They went from playing to 20 people in really small venues to playing 60,000 people in huge stages for their heroes. They didn´t have a record company or a manager and went right back to playing for 20 people the week after the tour finished but could ring anywhere in the country to get a gig for being “the band who did the Green Day tour”.

Fireballs had the Psychobilly/Punkabilly audiences pretty much sewn up here in Melbourne. There was an intense rivalry between the bands. Once TLE opened for Green Day they started to get radio airplay. Radio wanted nothing to do with Fireballs. They were a bit too gritty for radio.

They actually opened for Green Day on the Australian leg of the Green Day Bullet in A Bible tour circa 2005 when Green Day were touring the American Idiot album.

They kick ass live. I got to see them on a Warp tour, playing on a side stage before they became a headliner. Another great band from Melbourne.

The whole first self titled album was great and worth a play through. You've already done Prisoner of Society and Second Solution off it, but they're all worth a go, West End Riot, All torn Down, Save the day were other big releases off it, but my favourite was always Bloody Mary

The Living End did a cover of Cold Chisel's "Rising Sun". They shot a film clip for it in full Kabuki makeup and Japanese dress. My ex-wife's friend did the makeup, and she practiced the day before on my wife. That day I heard a knock at the front door and there was my wife there in full fright kabuki makeup. Nearly cacked my pants! On the day of the shoot Scott Owen the bass player signed a call sheet for my eight year old son.

How are you just now only hearing about the Living End? Lol I saw these guys open for Green Day basically 23 years ago! They are one of the best rockabilly pop punk bands out.

These guys revived my faith in Australian rock music, after a long absence of great bands, caused by the rising popularity of rap and techno music. My mum used to nag me about going out almost every night to see live bands, she would say "You'll get bored", but I'm glad I didn't listen and in later years, I told her I didn't get bored, the music got boring. 🤣😉
