Tomi Joutsen is a vocal phenomenon in metal music. His growl and clean vocals are amazing. The growl is very powerful and deep, but every word in the singing is perfectly readable. The clean vocals are excellent too. When Tomi sings, you understand from the first words who is singing, he is immediately recognized.

Tomi (the vocalist) belongs, in my opinion to the top three metal singers of all time (the other two being Bruce Dickinson and, of course, Ronnie James Dio). And the great thing about the band is that, if you look at the setlist of that show, you have one awesome song after another, and yet, this is only scratching the surface (and being 2010, it's missing everything from the 4 albums yet to come, that are pure awesomeness as well). And yeah, I know everyone is talking about Tuomas Holopainen's artistry as songwriter all day long, but I'll take Esa over him every day of the week.

Tomi Joutsen - Majestic Vocal Beast It's a real shame Amorphis is so unknown among greater public. I don't want to say underrated, because everyone who knows them are not underrating them.
@operatori11 ай бұрын
Tomi said it himself in an interview. He doesn't want the band to be more popular, because it comes with added publicity work. They were touring with Nightwish at the time and while NW was busy signing t-shirts, Amorphis were enjoying themselves in town.

I play A LOT of Amorphis on stream and I can say without a shadow of a doubt their last 3 albums are by far their best. When Tomi joined in 2005 he added what the band were missing. They definitely deserve all the praise they receive as a band.

I am pleased as punch that you guys did this particular song, as it makes the special features of AMORPHIS stand out so plainly! Tomi Joutsen is phenomenal... What I call the sexiest growl on the planet (if you heard it tastier, tell me!) mixed with those slightly elegic cleans of his, and SEAMLESS transitions - often in the same breath! The band just back their man perfectly with that unforgettable riff, as the song veers through some dark but melodic spaces, never staying too long in any of them - but keeping perfect cohesion. THIS is what you would call truly Progressive music! This band is something else. There are those I love more, but AMORPHIS satisfy me on emotional and intellectual levels at once - there is a huge "Wow" factor to this music, and once it sets in, one cannot but be amazed. They are anything they choose to be, on any given song. The name was perfectly picked, sure. :) Here's to more AMORPHIS!

Amorphis is pretty cool, Egyptian Pharaoh type Metal, you guys should check out Symphony X, they been around a long while and they mix Classical Instruments with Metal Riffs, not sure what to recommend... i guess the music video to "Set The World On Fire" from their album Paradise Lost.

Amorphis are firmly Finnish folk metal.
@UltimateGamerCC3 жыл бұрын
@@venomhammer9592 yet their riffs and themes are Egyptian sounding.
@venomhammer95923 жыл бұрын
@@UltimateGamerCC That’s due to them using the phrygian dominant scale. That’s what gives it that arabic feel. A lot of metal bands actually use this scale. In the case of Amorphis, only a few of their songs sound like this. The other one being Death Of A King.
@UltimateGamerCC3 жыл бұрын
@@venomhammer9592 if you say so, but it still is obvious that much inspiration was drawn from Egyptian themes, hell even the name Amorphis is Egyptian in origin.
@venomhammer95923 жыл бұрын
@@UltimateGamerCC Again wrong. Amorphis is actually derived from the greek word Amorphous which means to be shapeless or have no definite form. To add, most of their lyrical content comes from the Kalevala which is a Finnish poem. Hence why I said they are a Finnish folk metal band. Maybe you should do a little research before posting.
