Love the accent and love the info. I'm doing this same kind of thing that will switch from my megaMFT to my custom made router table. That fence is amazing! I'm selling my imperial incra and switching to metric everything so I can be like you boys on the other side of the pond. Cheerio!

@@TheWoodgrafter LOL. The current administration made a huge deal about how deporting was wrong. So, assuming politicians aren't liars, I think I'm safe. Wait, politicians do tell lies? Well, looks like I better get used to rainy weather and saying that politicians are telling pork pies, innit? I feel like I can sort of communicate in cockney, so maybe it won't be that bad. You English blokes have it figured out with metric. My skill level in wood working went up tremendously just from switching due to the fact that I'm horrible at doing math with fractions. LOL.

Hi Brent, I must admit the metric system is very easy to use, We used to have imperial in the UK as well, I learned to use both at school and I used imperial for a long time (as that was what my father and grandfather used). I made the decision to go with one system many years ago in the shop - and I’ve never looked back. There is a conversion kit to take the Incra fence from Imperial to metric that may be of interest to you. woodworkersworkshop.co.uk/collections/incra/products/incra-ls-super-system-conversion-kits-metric Could be a cheaper option. @@TheWoodgrafter I was going to do that option, but I need all new everything including router lift. So, I found a buyer for my imperial system and I get to spend more money.....so good all around. Might as well spend the money before inflation makes it utterly worthless. LOL. Keep making these great videos man. I enjoy your content. Your accent makes me want to get mad about taxes on tea and it makes it sound like you're better at woodworking than anyone else. hahahaha.

Hi Jim, It is a great piece of kit, I would go for the largest capacity you can fit. They will all do shorter cuts but now and then the long reach is useful. They also do a 635mm that might be a nice compromise. Choices choices choices Andy

Thanks for the review Andy. Do you find having the router up against the wall and the Incra fence at 90 degrees to the wall an issue with running longer stock or does your whole setup pull away from the wall for that use case?

Hi Mark, Yes it could be a limitation. Currently I have the second fence I can drop on for longer stock. I am still thinking how to accommodate that feature when I re-jig the bench. The easiest solution is wheels on the bench to move it forward. Cheers Andy

Thanks Andy for your great channel and for alerting me to this benchdogs base plate. I now need to reattach my Incra base plate (old style) for the arrival of the new BD plate. Unlike you, sadly, I did not think to attach the 6 t nuts and bolts to the base plate. I have plenty of the. T nuts but can’t find the 6 bolts. Do you happen to know what they are? I can always trial and experiment but I thought if you knew I could just buy some. Thanks again. Keith

At 15:14, it looks like you have about 3mm of rotational play. Where is that coming from and does it prevent you getting accurate results?

Hi, There is movement when the LS is in the unlocked position, when you lock it is to l solid with no movement. At that point it all lines up. Cheers Andy

Hi Sam, It’s about 50:50 you can’t beat the precision and set up speed of the Incra, but I tend to use sauter fence when using the angled function of the router. Cheers Andy

Hi Sam, I must admit, I love having the router table in the workbench. It just seems to fit easily into the workflow. And this new Incra plate will make a difference so looking forward to getting back the super fast square accurate fence alignment. My next step (after I spin the router round by 90degrees) is to make a similar size bench attachment for the table saw. That way everything to hand and the Incra fence can work on router or table saw. Perfect. Andy

There is a problem with this complex and beautifully machined system of parts. Any piece of equipment is only as accurate as its least accurate part (all errors are summed.) All aluminium- except that it is keyed to a piece of MDF. MDF moves, especially with moisture. And does not fully return afterward. To a machinist, it is jello. When woodworking, this is not so important- the workpiece will also move over time, and so does not require precision anyway. So, of course, the whole system will work. It is just that the majority of this is massively over-engineered. You get the same results with a simpler, cheaper, and less space hungry system. Occam's razor for tools- the simplest system that works is the best. If you insist on using the Incra fence, then your MDF plate is a better engineering solution. Cheaper, simpler, and just as accurate in practice.

Hi Mike, I think you misunderstand what the Incra system is for. You are thinking of the Incra system as a router fence only, for that is is over engineered. It is much more than that. So the ability to make fine adjustments in as series of dovetails, or box joints becomes important. Hence the features of the system. Cheers. Andy

@@TheWoodgrafter I am aware of the Incra system, and that it was originally designed for attaching to a cast iron table saw. A firm and accurate base. My point was that the accuracy that you are paying for is lost if attached to MDF - whatever you are using it for. Because a router fence does not need angular alignment, a pivot at one end and a simple screw thread at the other gives fractional millimeter adjustment. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5KVaaSFnp1kjc0 for a very simple version of this. A commercial user would want a superior version, but that would still be fairly simple. And cheap and space saving.

I’ve come late to this small disagreement. I certainly bow to your theoretical knowledge about engineering principles, (MDF is certainly less stable than iron or aluminium) but I’m of the opinion that only someone who is “aware of the Incra system” but has little or no experience of actually using it could come up with this view. Box after box, joint after joint, project after project thousands of woodworkers worldwide know that the statement “the accuracy you are paying for is lost if attached to MDF” is simply not true - empirically that is. You must surely be making a joke with that link to the screw thread alternative, there is just no correlation in usability. Incra LS’s are extremely rare on the s/h market - testament that there is very little buyers regret out there about this remarkable tool. And this plate from Benchdogs only further enhances this excellent product. Sorry to disagree - I’m normally always on the side of the iconoclasts - but not here.

@@keithbragg3821 I think, perhaps, that you did not fully read my post. I did not say the system did not work- far from it. My point, to re-iterate, was that the fence is over engineered (and therefore over expensive) for the purpose. A simpler and cheaper system would give just as satisfactory results, as the weakest link is common. And it is fine to over-spend; people pay large sums for Rolex watches, even though the 18mS accuracy of an Apple watch is better (try setting a mechanical watch to 18mS). They are not getting a more functional watch, they are getting beauty, prestige, whatever. If that is your bag, fine.

But the bottomline is kind of missing - is this 126€ 'flight-grade alu' adapter any better than your own previous homemade mdf scrap plate 8^)

You don't need the sub base, and there is no need to measure hole locations on the outer edge of the Incra base. Use the same holes that are used with the Benchdogs sub base to mark the hole locations to the Incra base, and drill through. You only need longer screws after that.
