The creature maker in me cringes throughout this build. It's not how Wayne is doing things, its the overly-complicated silly-buggery of the actual kit. For a creature that was made with rubber tubes, a wet-suit, chunks of rubber, cut up sex toys, raw chicken skin (and bones) and condoms, all covered in KY Jelly...they made a hell of a complex build...

This is what you get when you want to take the skin that should be 2 pieces of injection molding and spread it out across 10 pieced because you want to make more money splitting the build into as many parts as possible. Nobody get s a positive reaction from a stage that just includes a bunch of hoses to glue on, which is what they would have had to do if they had done this the right way.

So glad I didn't order this kit as most of what you have done will be forever hidden despite all the unnecessary detail and magnets! As usual the manufacturer is profiteering by charging for stuff that is invisible once complete.

The pipes are supposed to be reinforced veins to carry the sulfuric acid blood. H R Giger loved to design Biomechanical Apocalyptical creatures and artworks. I have a book of hard card prints of his artwork that I want to frame and hang in various places in my boat. I love the designs and disturbing images Giger made.

Well, after last weeks short packs from the other builds, you've certainly got your monies worth from this one! you have much more patience than me. The magnets seem like a complete waste of time other than temp fixing them but then you had to wait so long for the magnets to stick and stay in place?

Looks great Wayne... But I don't think I'll be doing it...got to much else going on...lol I did just order the Fanhome ET Extra Terrestrial new figure build... Just got the notice today so that I ordered... looks cool 😎 and cute... I wish it was a little bigger though than 26" high ...but his neck does extend...so that'll add to the height...lol But I think the reason for the magnets is that the rubber is pulling so much that it's giving you extra internal support in addition to the glueing of the outside skin ... Because I can almost guarantee in a few years... things may start to break down or start pulling apart and they thought of some of that problem in advance...lolol I bet that's why... Because just glueing won't hold that pulling of the rubber skin alone... Best mate across the pond...

My main issues with these character builds remains - load bearing joints are made from plastic not metal. Add to that the fact that Geiger's alien is supposed to have a hard outer exoskeleton (like insects, crabs, lobsters, etc) instead of this soft 'skin', and I'm giving this one a miss.

Really makes you wonder why they have you screw parts together just to take them out again for installation for another part in this case the l.e.d strip was probably added to the build after they finished producing the head parts of the prototypes

I might get this kit when it's available to buy as a whole kit. I'm curious how those soft skin parts are going to hold up over time. What are they made of? I'm wondering if they'll shrink a bit if they dry out and eventually pull apart.

Well I did doubt the whole magnet thing and thought we would end up using vast amounts of glue. I did buy industrial strength superglue in copious quantities and can only hope at the long term stability of it. Looks like some paint friendly silicone will also be needed for any gaps before the end repaint. Certainly the biggest model I have made so far.

seeing how flexible the knee was I don't see why it needed a split along the back, the lower leg was thin enough that it could have been pulled up the leg like a knee pad. seeing the leg all tied up like that doesn't make much sense, if the leg it's self has a conical shape to it.. why not make it so it's like three different pieces you slide onto it from the ankle up? thigh, knee, shin. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to peal back the flaps of the thigh over the knee to put in the flange screws.

Watching what you had to go through building the leg sort of talks me out of wanting to build this. How did you manage to keep your fingers away from the glue as you held the skin together? With the star I live under, I'd be getting glue all over the place! Add to that; to make sure the glue is firmly set; I'd probably wait 24 hours between glue stages making this a 2 to 3 day build! - which isn't really a bad thing. (The Tim Allen in me would also use strip-ties to hold the skin together). Magnets: I think the magnets are used to help conform the rubber to the leg contours over time, and possibly to help keep the skin taught when bending the legs . . .?

Not being funny but for the money it costs it's going to look like a giant kids toy. You're better off spending the money on a collectible statue of the alien or better still buying a decent file set and having a big one printed

Since you glue these parts down, do you recommend NOT messing around with the magnets at all? Or do you think it's possible the magnets add a little extra joining support and maybe holds it in place a bit more than it would by just gluing it?

@@WorldofWayneUK I mean, it doesn't even look like they really help when it comes to gluing down the skin sections. But I just find it hard to believe that ANY partworks model would spend so much time through so many stages on something that is totally useless. There must be something we haven't seen yet that will come into play later.

Hello wayne, I recently finished this collection and I can confirm that the magnets have no real purpose other than holding the skin until you glue it in place. There is only one part of the build where they actually do something and that is the back cover plate that opens to access the battery compartment. Thing is those magnets are too weak so they provided us with replacements>. I personally used both the originals and the replacements and event this way it barely holds in place. I would suggest you save up some of the magnets from the skin that you don't actually need to put in place and use them on that back plate to make it stay better in place.
