I have been stock piling my parts and finally got to this stage, your right a hair puller at best. Your idea was fantastic. Thank you again for the tip.

Working dash switches, awesome. The Cadillac dashboard is so iconic in vehicles from this period.

Thanks Wayne, your dash wiring procedure saved me a major headache. 😜

I really think people on the forum should tell every one to watch this video. This is the best i have seen for help in the problems with this issue and part. Loving the build as all ways. Stay safe all.

I loaded those tabs up without glue. I was wondering about the metal tabs that are still sticking up. Will they just stay that way or do they get folded down?
@ohmydinosare2 жыл бұрын
Phew, I'm glad it's you and not me doing all that wire stuff because I am quite thoroughly bamboozled by all of that. You seem to know what you're doing, though, so I look forward to no doubt seeing what all that was in aid of further along the series. All the lights and sounds in my Ecto-1 came preinstalled in the battery unit on the roof, you just had to stick the shaped covers in over some of them, and sit the thing in the hole, that's about as skilled a task as I'm up to
@iancampbell86494 жыл бұрын
Nicely done Wayne. I'm told by EM there is a delay on Ecto-1 issue 43.

The glue tip is a lifesaver. I don't know how anybody else is putting these wires in otherwise!
@tcopler4 жыл бұрын
Hello! Mr Wayne! Hey..I just built my issue 12 and didn't have to glue anything. Those metal tabs on the other side of the wire on the switches are supposed to be bent over and, "HUG", the retaining clip, keeping it in place. Just an alternative method if you dont want to permanently glue things. Love your vids, Cheers from Washington state!

Thank you Wayne, these videos are helpful!

Dashboard looks brilliant Wayne. Even though I am not building this, I love following your video's/models. Finished my Routemaster, & now subscribed to build "The Hogwarts Express". Just can not wait to get started on that. Keep up the great work.

Hi Wayne, some good tips here. Thanks for identifying that identification of wires was wrong. Are we saying pictures correct, numbering wrong? If so wire 38c fig D should be Blue / Green wire 38d. Had to look with my magnifying lens to see that. Do you agree it needs to be swapped to match their pictures?
@WorldofWayneUK4 жыл бұрын
Its really confusing. I went with the old adage if it does the job. Use it. All my switches click when pushed and the radio switches are the same length with chrome backing.
@robt85934 жыл бұрын
@@WorldofWayneUK Fair play, connectors are the same anyway. Will be a lighting test issue anyway before it's too late hopefully! I had to use a needle file to get all to click. A fiddly issue.

If you don't want to mess with glue, use the metal tabs on the back of the button to hold the retaining clip in place while securing the screw.

Awesome video Wayne, not sure if you realized it or not but through part of your video you had a background hum like you have a short in one of your mic's. It is really apparent when you are using your overhead camera and at the very beginning of the video.
@WorldofWayneUK4 жыл бұрын
Yep. I am in the process of trying to sort that out

Looks great so far and modelmodz will come with a remote for the switches like de DeLorean,i have one and that works great.

Hey Wayne, thanks for wire correction.also I noticed a little protrusion to the right of the radio. Did you use the wrong screw? As I did and now have a similar mark😳
@jakstrieder4 жыл бұрын
when you put the front in for the speedometer witch has a light effect I noticed that we couldn't see through the front and it had a white back to it.. did you forget to peal off a protective sticker/sheet before putting it together?
@WorldofWayneUK4 жыл бұрын
The white back diffuses the light

Hey Wayne Per my magazine it says the engine sound switch (38c) in the parts list is the blue/green wire. In the video you mention the engine sound switch should not be the blue/green one and it should just be the blue. Could the magazine have been updated in the USA?
@WorldofWayneUK4 жыл бұрын
It may have been. In doesnt really matter to be honest. The .Istanbul i.ooetant thing is the length of cable and the radio switches have the same amount of switch protruding through to the dashboard.

Following the usual instructions: Insert Tab A into Slot B, making sure to simultaneously connect Wires C & D together using screws E & F. Next cut, trim, & test fit parts G, H & I after dropping part J, misplacing part K, & losing part L. Break part M, repaint part N, & rebuild part O. Next parts P & Q don't fit into this model. Part R is on back order. And part S is mislabeled. Laugh, Cry, Swear, & set aside project to visit forums to figure out what to do next...
@goofylookingmofo4 жыл бұрын
Meanwhile the instructions were originally in Korean, translated into Spanish by a Frenchman born in Japan. My friend building this is a German-speaking Aussie living in England, is being watched by an Arabic speaking Bengali, married to a Canadian, living in Italy... Did I also mention that a Portuguese forum is being referenced for language barrier translations? A truly international affair. Still better than watching the US Republican National Convention on tv in the US....

Is your wiring correct as you put the wire 38C with wire C which is all blue but in the book 38C is the blue and green wire (labelled D) how come you gavent put them in by the colour coordination to the book as that is correct. The labelling on the wires are incorrect so surely blue and green should have gone in second button not the whole blue wire like you placed
@WorldofWayneUK2 жыл бұрын
Yep as long as it goes in the right plug it’s fine. I discuss that later in the build videos
