There are days I just sit and look at all my statues and say. I have a lot of statues! Then I feel bad for a second. Then I feel good because I have a lot of statues. L.O.L.

Statue collecting has become a form of stress relief for me....I find it immensely relaxing to assemble and place them into my collection. I also play music while i clean/dust them....it becomes a nice way to unwind and escape the crazy world we live in. And when I'm all done i can sit back and admire what I've built. Statue collecting has definitely filled a void and I enjoy it immensely.

That's cool. I also do that with my action figures-always trying to repose them and taking photos of new poses when it's done. I'm not into the statues yet but I know in my heart it's just a matter of time...😊😬

Man, I agree 100% on the #1. I’m very new to the statue game but just spending time planning my displays, going thru statues available and deciding which to get next. I’ve never been a big hobby guy (mostly for financial reasons) but now I’m in a play that I can splurge and it’s a ton of fun getting into this.

“idle hands are the devil’s tools/workshop.” I absolutely agree with all your reasons. But the one good thing about this hobby is that after you go through the process of preordering, saving up, receiving (or selling) enough statues, there is no more mystery or fear because you have now experienced it. It is like skydiving: you keep pushing it off with fears and worries that you’re going to die on your first attempt, and then once you’ve done it a couple of times, there is not as much fear and worry. You gain the confidence and courage to delve deeper into it, like skydiving from greater heights or riskier locations. Same with this hobby in that you buy more expensive statues or from more companies or sellers because you’ve now “done it.” You’ve broken your cherry; dipped your toes into cold water; touched a hot stove; etc. You discover it’s not as bad or as difficult as you initially thought it would be. It essentially becomes easier, and thus more enjoyable. You also mentioned it is an addiction. But let’s be honest, once you’ve gained enough of a collection, statue collecting gets pushed to the bottom of your priorities because it is no longer a mystery or desperate new urge that needs solving or relieving, and you now realize it is not a substitute for life’s other needs or events. If you had to choose between buying a statue or a new car, you would buy a new car. If you had to choose between buying a statue or spending that money on your son’s birthday party, you would spend it on the party. Same for if you needed surgery on your teeth or new glasses or a new sofa or groceries. That is the complete opposite of an addiction because the urge (the “I need this bad bad bad bad bad”) eats at you less and less when you actually have to choose between that and actual happiness.

I swore I’ld never collect statues. Years ago I could not understand why anyone was interested in them. And then I saw P1 1/2 scale BvS Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman Statues and that’s all she wrote. From there it was slowly into customs and then onto hunting down my all time childhood favorites--and then into watching someone talk about statues on KZbin and then becoming a member-and then talking about statue addictions- ha...ha...ha. Now, I love it all. It must have been karma. For as many people as I mentally made fun of I must have been cursed to purchase 10 times that amount of pieces. The best thing about this hobby are the wonderful people. And then the realization of childhood dreams coming to life. Seeing my favorite film characters born of resin and clay, capturing cinematic moments in time is refreshing and just wow! Absolutely, love collecting statues. Go Xtreme or go home!

The reasons why I like & dislike statue collecting.... The top reasons why I do NOT like collecting: 5. Dusting 4. Addicting / Rabbit Holes 3. Space they ultimately take up 2. Boxes, Boxes, Boxes 1. Overall costs (statues, shipping, displaying) The top reasons why I DO like collecting: 5. $'s are generally recoverable 4. Collecting community / People 3. Anticipation / Excitement of new pieces 2. Reliving childhood / Nostalgia 1. Appreciation of the art (idea, creation, execution & the history of a character)

I got into statue collecting because my parents never bought me toys. My mom would buy my cousins Transformers and I got nothing. When I got my first real job, I started to buy toys. It eventually north in statues. The worst thing I hate is the space and boxes it takes to house these collectibles. The best thing I like about collecting is the art. I have a great passion and appreciation of the sculpted statue.

It's a double-edged sword. If I have too many statues, I feel like they're not as special anymore. So I need to keep my collection smaller than most. But there's the part of me that wants everything, even though I'm picky about specific elements about a statue. Space is my worst enemy when it comes to collecting statues. And Addiction! Yes, it's expensive! All of the reasons you stated hit home for me. The point you make that it does hold equity, helps me sleep better at night. Haha. When you have thoughts about postponing a wisdom teeth extraction so you can place a couple of more pre-orders. I know. It's sad. But that has more to do with me thinking taking care of my health is a lost cause. But #restraint helps. Thank you, Mr. X. Admittedly, I have more statues in shippers than I have displayed. I hope you never stop collecting statues, though. It seems like you do have a true passion for it. The statue collectibles community wouldn't be the same without you, Gem Mint, Batman Statue Collector, and many others. I've recently gotten into Facebook collectibles groups and it has been a life force in fueling my passion. A little history of my statue collecting: It started with Sideshow Collectibles Dead Space Isaac Clarke back in 2012. Still my favorite piece of all-time. It's my "Pumpkinhead." ;)

I started my collection cause of a youtube video i saw. I started in March this year with the pandemic and now I've bought more than 30 statue and figures, not high end stuff like you but still stuff I enjoy and can afford. I even have a list of the statue and figures I want and I scratch them off when I get it. What I do hate is that SOMETIMES I feel embarrassed to tell people I collect toys at my age. But you do get some sort of relaxation when you walk into your collection room and look at character from your childhood. That's the reason I do it.

I love Bowen Designs. For the quality and size to price ratio they can't be beat. I have an assortment of Marvel statues currently on display and I managed to start a decent collection of Bowen sculpts without breaking the bank. And a majority of them have held their value well, not that reselling is my motive in this hobby. But yes I agree several years ago a lot of them were unobtainable on my meager income source. I'm happy with what I have so far and regret nothing.

Where do i begin, ive always been captivated by the movie screen when i was younger maybe 10 i remember watching alien v predator for the first time that opened up my world into sci-fi/horror genre and as i grew older all i wanted was shirts or posters of the things i loved and of course i never really got them because i was young couldnt work and even when i did start working i had other important things to put my money into, but i think it was sometime in 2016 when i saw my first predator statue I believe it was a sideshow bust of some sort i cant really remember and i couldnt ever get it out of my head i was always thinking “i need that, i want it” my hunger for that statue grew and grew at the time looking up statues and window shopping and kind of like imagining what my room would be like and what i would get became a hobby i couldnt afford anything so window shopping is all i could do, at this time i was extremely depressed and i always felt i was different and im not trying to throw a pity party but if i had to give 1 big reason why i started collecting it was because of my depression i suffered through a lot, battling with things in me trying to find my fix in bad crowds or self harm and at one point even considering ending it all but i couldnt i kept going back to all these movies and things i loved one day i just set a goal for myself i wanted to buy my first statue it was going to be a predator bust and so the journey of me paying for things that were important and trying to save as much as i can began and eventually long story short i made the money and purchased the wolf predator bust from sideshow and honestly ive heard about the terrible reviews and the problems it had but i didnt care i wanted it, i wanted something to show for the hard work and it was affordable so i bought it and honestly i love it, i love it more than i wouldve imagined and since then i havent made any big statue purchases until a couple months ago when i pre-ordered the prime one studio casca statue deluxe edition and honestly i cannot wait for it to come in and i know its gonna be a while again before i get another statue but the wait and the grind for them are worth it. This is my story and i honestly wouldnt change anything about my experience if it wasnt for the negative i wouldve never resulted into this hobby

I bought my first statue in 2012, as a result of seeing one of StatueHunter75's reviews of Amber from Sucker Punch by Gentle Giant, sculpted by an - as then - relatively unknown Will Harbottle. Then by about 2018 the price of statues has almost tripled, I'd hit a financial rough patch and had to downsize my outgoings and living space. So I sold the collection off. I calculated that just about broke even all told. I do still find myself gazing wistfully at the upcoming releases and reviews and feel/fight the urge to 'add to cart'. These days I'm into 3D printing - space is starting to become and issue again.

I always admired statues when I saw them at comic con but never saw myself spending that kind of money on anything. Then Infinity War and Endgame happened and my obsession for the MCU grew to another level. When I saw the Queen Studios Thanos bust go up for sale I knew I needed to have it. That bust was my first purchase in Feb 2020 and my ticket down the rabbit hole. It really turned out to be the perfect year though to find a new hobby since COVID has taken away so many other things that I would normally spend my money on like concert tickets, baseball games, traveling, eating out, etc... In a way I feel like the hobby and I found each other at the perfect time. Watching you, the batman statue collector and gem mint has also kept me busy and has provided me alot of entertainment over the last several months. Interacting with the facebook groups has also kept me busy. Really glad I found this niche community of collectors.

I started by collecting all the small eaglemoss Marvel & DC pieces. I then got into 1/4 scale. What I really like and often main reason to pull trigger is how I can uniquely display statue to create a diorama that tells story. I just ordered XM Hulk transformation for that reason. I think about how I could add background image with extra stuff in display and how it will be lit. Started at $10 a hit now $2,300 for one fix.

Never thought I would be collecting statues and now I own 2. I live in a regular size (80sqm.) condominium so I'm well aware of the limitations I have and know what I'm actually getting into thanks to your videos. I am also practicing #restraint with collecting 1/6 figures - so I can probably stop collecting if I wanted to but I hope you don't as I enjoy watching your videos and reviews.

I work professionally as a 3D artist and do a lot of sculpting and 3D digital work, so statue collecting for me is both a way for me to indulge my fan interests as well as a way to appreciate the amazing art that people in my field are able to collaborate on and create.

I started collecting action figures which I absolutely love. But lately I have been getting a few of statues. Action figures is still the main drive of my collection but I am aware that sooner or later I will be fully in the statue thing and then it will be game on!

I main reason why i wish i never started collecting statues is because off all the money i spent on my collection, instead of buying actual stuff that matters, i throw my money on my collection.

The space is my biggest problem. I used to stop buying for 3-4 years because of space issues. Another problem is... If I don't buy it now and then it's all sold out I couldn't buy it at the original price. Sorry for bad grammar. I am Asian.

I’ve only recently got into collecting. I’m an artist and a lot of my works that I do for myself are fantasy based. I’m an 80’s kid and the animation styles from then, the 90’s and the early 00’s I feel are far superior on the whole than what we have today, and being able to have a 3D model of something I’ve loved for decades, things that inspired me is just amazing. I love being able to see detailed recreations of things which were originally only on screen or in a comic form and being able to own something which a talented artist has recreated for me.

I collect Hot Toys and statues and it's a very addictive hobby and very expensive and one of these days I'm going to have to say no more as my collection is getting bigger and nearly starting to run out of space and when you have a lot of collectables it's time consuming having to dust down your collectables.

I got stuck with collecting pops, then moved on to dragon Ball statues. THEN I found out about Prime1 , SideShow, and that's when I really went down the rabbit hole. Honestly it's because of You & Batman Statue collector that I decided to pull the trigger on P1. I don't see myself stopping with statues for a while.

Yep.. I see many of them as art (pieces of art). But also worthy for decoration. Thats my main usefuI thing for them (if someone ask me about them).. they are good for decoration (they are more interesting (than some other things) as decoration pieces) :D

Started in comics and amassed a lot. I took a break from that to start collecting action figures of all my favorite heroes and villains. Of course I collected to many and finally stopped to get into lightsabers. I collected a large variety all of which have different soundboards, sounds and lighting effects. I quit that when I ran into several scammers and now back into comics that are graded and mostly signed. Never got into statues or considered them but love watching your channel. I like seeing all the different characters, styles and poses

I got a tiny collection 12 statues and I say to myself why the hell did I buy this? It’s gonna be hard to make my money back. I figured if I really wanna get rid of them I’ll sell them for $100 lol I got into statues because I went to my buddy’s house and he had a entire basement filled with statues and I got hooked.

I’ve been collecting for about 1 1/2 years and I absolutely love it. To your point I am currently out of room. I’m actually looking to buy a bigger house and one of my boxes to check off is a house with an extra room just for my statues. I recently just broke my very first statue and I’m still pissed over it. But I really love it.

Late to the party but I had a collection 2 years ago that made my living room look like a comic shop. It was causing fights with my wife so I sold most of it off and started collecting omnibus instead. But I feel the itch again so I’m about to start back up. I just won’t go as overboard as I did when I first started. Love your content keep it up.
