These "horror" mods aren't that bad. But personally the ones that don't hit the players with petty jumpscares are arguebly more unsettling simply because it makes the player feel a sense of discomfort and inticipation, leaving only the player's imagination to run wild with possibilities, especially on their first playthrough. And besides, without any jumpscares it allows the player to feel tense. I mean, it's okay AFTER the creature kills you, but mods like The Silence flash you with so many jumpscares that it just becomes comedic and predictable rather than scary. 😂

I don't actually like this mod or the Boiled One mod that much despite loving Dr Nowhere's work. They both fundamentally miss what made the original videos work by turning their titular entities into generic, obnoxiously loud, unlikable one-shot monsters. The Boiled One was scary because he would put you into an unending nightmare where you're completely helpless, forced to listen to him and him alone. The boy and the bath worked because it was an unsettling, eerie, yet tragic video about someone's neglected son who drowned in the bath coming back to haunt them, not to attack or kill them, but as a painful reminder of the mistake they can never make right again. These mods just make them play their creepy sound effects and then jump out with tinnitus causing levels of noise before killing you. That isn't scary, it's cheap.
