My adoptive parents, who I had been living with ever since my parents passed away, used to be really close friends with my parents when they were alive. Let's call them Jack and Nora since I'm obviously not gonna call them mom and dad, I never have and I never will. Anyway, after my parents passed away in that car accident, they decided to adopt me. My parents did not have any contact with their family and when their lawyer tried to reach out to them to ask if they would be willing to take me in, they refused to do so. So there was the other option, but to live with Jack and Nora, otherwise, I would end up in the foster home system. And that was not something that seemed like a feasible option for me. And back then, Jack and Nora were pretty nice to me.
