I'll never understand why people have to destroy stuff. Spray paint, graffiti is stupid, but to destroy things is puzzling. Other people might want to look at the stuff left behind.

A newspaper article from 1930 says a girl named Virginia Brown, 16 years old, was sent to Sleighton by the courts. She had stolen $5.50 from someone and boughten a dress. Her Father made her return the dress and repay the $5.50 to the victim. The Father also said that Virginia was a runaway. He said his wife was in the hospital dying of cancer, so it was hard to take care of Virginia. How sad.

The number of abandoned pianos I've seen in places like this is remarkable. Those things weren't cheap. But back in day, it seemed every small rural town seemed to have a piano manufacturing company whose details almost always get lost to time, leaving the rotting corpses of their products being the sole fleeting evidence of their existence.

Surely with all the buildings and land something could have been done?? A hospice with places for families to stay. Anything rather than let it go like this. It’s so heartbreaking to see what they’ve done especially to the Church. I can understand that if misbehaving girls were sent there they’d hate it but to do that to the buildings IS criminal and it’s about time it started to be treated as such. Oh if I had the money I’d renovate it and make it something to be proud of again
