There is a theory from the original fans about the existence of an unrequited love between Tuomas and Tarja. This theory was built on old interviews (see this one, for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naWTmZR3nqyVftE) and on Tuomas' compositions. "Ever dream" would be one of the songs supposedly composed having Tarja as inspiration. This song is from the Century Child album, released in 2002. At the time, Tarja was having a relationship with Marcelo, the person she married in 2003. Based on this theory, the relationship between Tarja and Marcelo would have frustrated Tuomas' yearnings, and this love drama would be one of the elements of conflict in the group. Considering the problems in the band, at the end of 2004 Tarja met with the group and informed that she would leave Nightwish. She intended to announce her decision to the public and prepare fans for the change of singer. The idea would be to record another album and carry out a farewell tour. The group agreed with the proposal, but Tuomas did not want Tarja's departure to be announced at that moment. It turns out that, after this meeting, the band secretly planned a letter of public resignation to Tarja. This letter was delivered to her at the very end of the show you just saw. Considering that everyone knew what was coming, except Tarja, and based on the theory of unrequited love, we could assume that, upon seeing Tarja sing "Ever dream", Tuomas found himself flooded with conflicting emotions, to the point of needing some time to compose himself. The theory of unrequited love gained strength after Tarja's resignation, when Marcelo spoke about the matter in one of the answers he gave to fans (he answered more than 140 questions: www.tuomasholopainen.fora.pl/wywiady-artykuly,29/odpowiedzi-marcelo-na-pytania-fanow-czerwiec-2006,455.html ). As for your question about my favorite Nightwish era, I like all of them, but I prefer Tarja's era.

Marcelo wasn't exactly fan of Tuomas's either so it is all his interpetations on things too. Tarja NOR Tuomas has never spoke about any kind of romantic feelings between them. So I THINK ever dream could be about anybody in Tuomas's private life back then.He doesn't talk about it very much so what do we really know about that time. Who he was involved, who he may be dating etc. We know nothing because he never tells.For example: "I wish I had an angel" was inspired by somebody in a bar to try hitting on Tuomas's girlfriend at that time so he clearly had a private life that the public didn't know about. Fanfic about unrequited love is still a fanfic.

@@jaanahedemaki6993 There's no way to be sure it's just a fanfic. The fact that Marcelo is not a fan of Tuomas does not mean that Marcelo is a liar. Besides, if there really was a love drama, it wouldn't be surprising or incomprehensible if Tuomas wanted to hide the matter. Tuomas' compositions, the way he used to talk about his work and Tarja, Tuomas' behavior on the dvd "End of an era", his depression after Tarja's resignation, the album "Dark Passion Play", and especially the song "The poet and the pendulum", can be seen as signs of a love drama. In the interview I shared, for example, Tuomas said that Tarja was the most charismatic person he knew. He mentioned that she filled the whole room with her presence and stated that Tarja was the person who best interpreted his feelings. I think that, given the dubiousness of the elements made public, there is no argument strong enough to discard the theory of unrequited love. Mainly after Marcelo's speech. However, there is also not enough force to state categorically that Tuomas was in love with Tarja. So I think we remain in the field of theory.

Well...he made some poor choices.Also Tuomas has said to Floor: "darling." Are people going to claim he is in love with her too? Tuomas has said she's at home in Nightwish and if Floor would ever leave there would be no more Nightwish.I mean he would sacrifice his band for her. Surely he is in love with her? Fanfics and unrequited love claims become the truth when spread enough.And I never thought "Poet and the Pendulum" is any kind of love drama.It's a survival song from a suicidal person.Marcelo may have been jealous himself, who knows. It doesn't make him a liar but it does affect how he interpets things. Unless it comes from Tarja and/or Tuomas it will remain fan fantasy .And it hasn't and never will. Obviously Marcelo isn't a bad guy.He has been with Tarja for many, many years. Tuomas isn't stupid either but these rumours just paint him that way.Like Tuomas suffered years and years with that unrequited love and never did anything with it? OK. He was just lovesick puppy. 🙄 And when he didn't get the girl he became angry. People make their own theories about the whole thing and in the end it's not even their business. @@jaanahedemaki6993 Personally, I don't believe that "The poet and the pendulum" is based solely on the reaction of fans and the media. Tuomas appeared to be suffering a lot before that. I realize this on the "End of an era" dvd itself and on the Once tour documentary. About Tuomas and Floor, just calling someone a "darling" is quite different from having someone as a "muse". The relationship between Tuomas and Floor is quite different from the relationship between Tuomas and Tarja. Tuomas said he thought about ending the band in two moments, when Sami left and now when Marko left. Now he says that the band is over if Floor is gone. However, they are different relationships. None of these people are a muse of Tuomas. Theories arise from the interpretation that one has of the peculiarities of each relationship. Precisely for this reason, I never saw anyone considering any romantic relationship between Tuomas and any other member of the band, except for Tarja. As for Marcelo, he mentioned a speech by Tuomas, which seems to be stronger than a mere impression about Tuomas' feelings. In a way or another, saying that Marcelo's interpretation is based on jealousy, or not, are both a theories, because we can't be sure of anything. As such, fan theories are both the idea that Tuomas was in love and the idea that he wasn't, because in both cases we are interpretating.

That was at least two years of shit, maybe more because things weren't going well in a band for a long time but things escalated after firing. Tuomas has also said if Tarja leaves the band there is no more Nightwish. In the end you don't know Tuomas and neither do I.Much less what he thinks or what his relationships are with anybody. I'm not inside of their lives or heads I only see little glimpses what they allow. Too little to make assumptions.Except he has found a connection with Troy, that's why Auri. What I do know is that I respect his privacy. This whole thing is based on "Tuomas is a bad guy he was jealous and in love with Tarja and couldn't have her that's why he REALLY fired her." Floor has been inspiration to him at least, he wrote about her. See?This works both ways.That's how fanfic works. But you choose to believe what you want to believe. I believe what comes directly from the source and this thing hasn't and never will. Tuomas wasn't in love with Tarja until proven otherwise. That's what I think. And this is too much for my taste about this whole thing so this will be my last post to this.

There was something really magical with them, and it was really interesting to see how things went from their start to this point. I think some of that magic has to do with the fact, that I had almost identical band plans in 1996, but they just managed to make it real. My dream was to make a music just like they did on Oceanborn, but they did it first, and they did it "too well". But let me put it in this way. I will always miss this first era Nightwish, but if this new Nightwish would suddenly disappear, I would miss that one too. We would need to have both. I was not a fan of their second era with Anette, but it has also grown on me later, and I can surely appreciate that too. It is sad how things have gone wrong so many times, but it has made them who they are.

What was going on with Tuomas? He and the whole band knew at the end of this concert, the band was gonna give Tarja her pink slip. They published the open letter the next day as to why the band fired the face of Nightwish at the time, Tarja. This was a great concert, but every time I watch it I look for and see the looks between the guys, knowing what is looming once the concert ends.

However it was Tarja herself that announced she would leave the band (after one more album/tour) But once the relationship goes sour..... better to end it, than do another tour in agony... @@vogel2280 Yes, from what I've read Nightwish was basically a slave drive back then. They did HUGE AMOUNT of gigs but still wanted to make more. As a soprano and the way Tarja sings she wanted to protect her voice.Also I don't care what she did OR her husband.You just don't backstab you bandmate and humiliate her with an open letter like that.You sit her down, talk about things and let go of her in a civil way. They were so dumb that they thought that letter was OK.They all agreed to it.Clearly band had no PR person to tell them to STOP. I guess their people skills were not very strong back then.Hopefully they are better now. Also it was no secret that Tarja wanted to leave, she told them in advance.She was honest. She wasn't sad about the firing she was VERY SAD and DISAPPOINTED about the way it happened and couldn't believe they would do that to her. Nightwish milked her through the end, backstabbed her, painted her as a diva and burnt bridges with her.SAD. I'm not sure firing Anette was any better but at least there were no such shitshow afterwards. To make matters worse nobody had the balls to apologize afterwards to Tarja, except maybe Marko and I've read Tuomas and Tarja have exhanged some "neutral" e-mails after. "Nightwish is a way of life" they wrote in that letter.Well...it's sad when a band goes before anything else, before humans and before friends, when you are suppose to sacrifice everything else for it. Notice how now Nightwish does fewer albums.touring has breaks, band members has their side projects.Tarja wanted less touring, her own career and have a life besides Nightwish.In a way she was ahead of them in thinking that. As all are older, they all have those now and I'm glad they ask: "How's the heart?" Tuomas has never had ability to talk about things, especially difficult things, so that's why he writes them in songs and I can't blame him.But backstabbing Tarja was the case when I hoped he would open his mouth and talk instead of writing. And I think there's NO WAY IN HELL they would ever pull something like that nowadays.

Tarja is fluent in 5 languges. The accent is from a rural part of Eastern Finland near the Russian border. 81% of Finns know English. Her other languages are Spanish. Her husband Marcello (2002-present) is from Argentina. She knows Italian and German. Knows some Polish and sang in Russian. My all time faves change. Uhm also huge Nightwish fan got a gooder her energy is insane solo man she is so much better she writes actual moshing songs as well and lots of them as well whole show one big mosh pit that just grows and grows. It's like playing an IO-style game bunch startup and slowly making you're way to one. She literally gets them going she just commands the crowd 100%. She is way better solo then ever with Nightwish seen her once is just unreal live she is jumping around while singing insane high notes like your having insane feeling live. One of the things i like so much about Nightwish is to see how much they enjoy being on stage and to see the big smiles of all the members (especially Emppu . But this concert is for me very depressing to watch. Tarja did a great job but the boys you can see so clearly they are not having fun and are just doing their job (technical still perfect but not that extra vibe you get when you see the pleasure in their eyes). Because i like your reactions i have watched it but i am not sure if i will ever watch a video of this concert again. But thats just me, so if other fans have no problem with it, thats great and hope they keep enjoying it.

A comment I hardly ever make about NW: The studio version of this song with Tarja is better than this specific performance. For me she is overdoing the operatic/theatrical vibe of this song. The studio version with Tarja did make it to my playlist. It is awesome!
