I spilled a kerosene lamp down my leg by accident when I was 19, 24 years ago and ended up with 3rd degree burns over more than 70% of the leg. I hope he gets the treatment he needs. Burns are dreadfully painful and the treatment so specialised. We used to do dressings and remove the dead skin in the burns operating theatre. Hands were raised and placed in sterile bags with rubber bands to stop retraction. The pain medication was quite an art form. I only spent a couple of months on the unit during my training but was quite harrowing. I am sure you could help him a lot. He needs a clean environment that he can maintain to help prevent infection. The accommodation he is living in alarmed me. Hoping you can work your magic here. Love from the UK

Good on you Wendy! It must have been tough seeing people suffer from burns. When I was 11 y o & in hospital, my bed was right next to a room where there was a huge glass window, and I could see (to my deep distress) a tiny baby suspended in the air by cords somehow, it's whole tiny body covered in severe burns either from boiling water poured over it or dropped into a bath of scalding hot water (forget which, I asked a nurse though.) The poor little thing screamed in agony when they changed its dressings and screamed in pain on and off day and night. One of the worse experiences I've had. I agree about his accommodation he even mentioned that he hated living there since the disaster. I'm praying for him.

Why didn't his community, his 'family' start a fund raiser for this man? His nose can be reconstructed, and skin grafts for his burns, knee cap replacement, and so much more help could be given. A man such as he, a young selfless hero who thought not of himself, but only others should not have to live like that. So sad, so very very sad. On a different note: I'm shocked at those nurses who ripped dry bandages off his burns wounds!!! No local anesthetic and no water to soften the bandages!! How could they not know! And to tell the specialist, "Oh we thought we could handle it ourselves!" Yeah, great job! Not! So glad he got specialist help. I'll pray for Sergei. What a handsome man he was when younger! God loves him very much no matter his looks. And for 83% burns I must say, he looks pretty good. Prayers about his upcoming operations.

This man is remarkable. It seems he has no regrets for helping the people in the fire despite how it turned out for him. He deserves better from society than the stipend pension he gets.

thank you for your work. it is very important to record history and personal stories this way. you should assemble them all into book form as a series of short stories. don't let this fade into youtube noiseclips. make it permanent. make a book.

One of the most frustrating things about life is the famous people we celebrate as heroes, when men like this guy are the true heroes in the world. They take action to save lives with zero benefit to themselves.

I think maybe this man helps more people than he might realize. Through this video and in his daily life. The stillness he exudes. How much awareness he spreads. Courage, care, sacrifice, teaching people what’s important in life, perseverance, handling adversity, depth of experience. Much value and power there. There’s more to helping or doing for others than just the physical. How we can get caught up in petty things. What a service he did and continues to do. More potential, more voltage in a second than some may know in their life.

@@dweamy1 Thank you. Infection and more pain is the last thing this man needs to endure. Burn victims have compromised immune systems and infection is dangerous. I hope he can get his treatment and rehab VERY soon!
