So, charity shop management here! Any donated clothes that do not sell within 1-2 weeks get sent on (we still get money for doing this!) and used either for foreign aid, or broken down into its materials and reused, so it is worth donating. AND in some cases (like the shop I work at) we get so many donations we DO send donations to our other branches. But Smith is correct, a lot of people who donate do it because they can't be bothered to use their own recycling/bin and so it falls to us to sift through literal rubbish bags and try to salvage anything we can.

@louisglen7444 as to the warpope? Many pope's in history have commanded military forces even though as leader of the catholic church it is typically considered out of the authority of the pope, especially in modern days (although it was contested to some extent back then), to that end Chris Trott refers to his player modle as the war pope. The "long may he reign" is not a reference, just a person committed to the comedy bit

Thrifting is a bit of a curse, the purpose of charity shops is two fold - to generate money for charities and also to supply items for people in need to be able to purchase at a lower price. However, far too many charity shops are getting raided by individuals with plenty of money buying up all the stock for thrifting and haul videos on social media.

When I was detailing cars I had a coworker that looked like a bald buzzard, like a literal caricature from a MAD magazine turned human and he had the brain to match. He had (somehow) been with us a few months and asked the company to advance his next 2 weeks pay (we were paid every 2 weeks by default, so a 4 week paycheck total), and being a family business the owner thought he might be facing a financial hardship and approved it without asking. Buzzard Jerry came back after taking a 4 day weekend that pay period he got the advance and was bragging about how much fun he had - turns out he had asked for the 2 week advance to fund an escort service to join him on a some trip but had made just a crazy amount of charges to the card he'd given the service to keep on file for his... rendezvous. 4 weeks of pay gone in 3 days, and he had the nerve to ask the owner for another 2 week advance so he could pay rent, but by then the owner had heard the whole story and told him he could get a cash advance from one of the loan sharks across the street.
