For my zipline platforms, I use stick effigies as rails so I don't go flying off. I put them in the center of the platform. Using 2 rocks for support works for the ones I don't use for log transport.

I'm glad you are back and I can't wait to see your progress. The flat forest/field in front of the shovel cave is an awesome killing field for mid/late game. Lots of mutants, and regular cannibals here when the game first came out. I built my first main base 200 yards uphill and then built a kill box with tree bridges and rock spikes in that flat shovel area. Deer are also plentiful.The elevated knob area just below and to the right of the cave would make a great wood storage and collection point. It's surrounded by very dense forest. The forest acrossed and up river is as dense as they come.

13:06 that was a lovely counter. I agree with your sentiments about the armored enemies. Being hit should knock them down because if they were going for something realistic, then receiving a smack from a big axe should take you to bed. Being woken up by 2 full raiding parties is fun in coop, but a bit of a hassle when playing solo. Especially when you get to the day where all enemies have armor on.

awesome it might be time to come back to this. back in the original early access me and my mates found it way easy to just throw down a tarp and a stick and sleep through the danger/horror of stumbling around at night and never got attacked this might make it necessary to make multiple camps around the island.

Im not sure what the range is on the raiding parties at night... there definitely is one. Seems your wall has to be a decent ways away from your base or you will get woken up. Something to keep in mind for base building.

Pretty sure if you sleep above ground, its a 50/50 chance to be woken up by a raiding party. Doesn't matter if you've already been woken up. Every attempt is a straight 50/50 chance. Even behind walls, with traps, and a fully enclosed house with a locked door(s). Sleeping in bunkers with built-in save points or throwing down a tarp in a cave you've cleared out is the only time I've been guaranteed a full night's sleep. Makes me always build near caves 'cuz I just don't wanna deal with that.

On the east side of island there is an open cave between a lake and residental bunker. If you walk inside you can't build, but back up a little and boom, you got yourself a safest base in the game

I never get woken up if I lock the door, instead they just make effigies outside the house... your game is probably bugged

Just find spots that the ai can't path to. Never be woken up again. I built in the mountains on a hard to reach flat spots with cliffs surrounding me. If Virginia follows me through teleport, her character can't move anymore unless you push her, same with Calvin.

I findthe video is a little ro jumpy between cuts. It could be an idea to leave more of the gameplay before and after each cut to allow it to be more fluid. Im happy to watch a 20-30 minute video covering the same amount of content.

Farket, if you put your upscaling to FSR 1.0 and set it to 20, the game becomes super clear and your eyes wont hurt from the blurriness anymore. It blew my mind how clear the game got once i figured it out. (Pretty random, i know, just thought id let you know).

you can turn off building animations so its a lot faster to build. best way to use it is when you add spikes onto logs.

Have they fixed the enemy boldness issues? I want to play a game like the original, or a survivalist movie; you know when there is a substantial amount of warmup time to build a secluded base, and scout out the locals before the enemies just start swarming like mozzies. The problem is they don't punish stupid people showing no regard for stealth, you build something; they rock up on queue from a damn script. You had to get a lot further in time, or build right next to a patrol route to have that happen in the original game.

this is too fast man, the edit. before I try to make sense of what is happening you are doing something else. Slow it down a bit or cut more or show more to have a sense of progression. It is no fun to watch otherwise

I feel like I'm in the minority, but I absolutely HATE the inclusion of Kelvin and Virginia in this game. I LOVED the feeling of isolation and horror in The Forest. It was a legit scary place to be when you got off of that crashed plane. With Kelvin and Virginia around, that feeling of isolation is just... not the same. It's kind of gone. And Kelvin's dopy smile and how you treat him by writing on a post it note, and slapping it on his chest, just... further kills the isolation and horror aspect of the game for me. I feel the same about Virginia. She doesn't come across as creepy or unsettling to me. She comes across just as goofy and silly as Kelvin does. I don't mind the huge map. But I HATE Kelvin and Virginia. I always kill them at my first opportunity to do so. I like the isolation and fear associated with it. Sons of the Forest also seems to be... lacking in some of the things that really made The Forest scary. I can't put to words what specific elements that are lacking in Sons of the Forest... but... I feel them.
