Greetings from the land of Blaze King, thanks for the unsuitable video. Indeed we can't have anyone knowing where food actually comes from - reality bad and all that right? The herd looks good by the way. I spent 27 years on a local rancher's branding crew and would help move the herd up on the grazing leases sometimes which was my introduction to mountain horse riding. Good luck to you all this hunting season.

I suggest you closely observe your cow in 20 - 21 days to see if she comes back in heat / season? If she is alone and not with other cows, look for signs of nervousness such as extra walking in paddock, frequent bawling, different behavior at milking time, and sometimes mucous discharge. Leaving a cow in heat with 3 bulls for an extended amount of time is not wise. They may break her down depending on her age. Being "served" once or twice is ENOUGH! For a natural yearly calving interval, a cow should be bred back 60 -90 days after calving. S. Carolina

I had that chore too. After mom strained the milk and separated the cream, my next chore was to shake the jar with cream until it turned to butter.

I was kind of wondering as I was watching this if KZbin was gonna demonetize the video for its content. Its nature, kids and adults raised on farms see it all the time between loads of different animals. I remember as a child seeing animals breed which scarred me for a long time. I was not interested in human mating for a long time after watching the different farm animals get busy. It's a good thing, but I still ended up having my 1st son at 19. Thanks for the video, I laughed so much!

Interesting, I always thought they generally had to dry up before getting pregnant again. I think the best thing about cows is the immune system boost from lacto basilis acidophilus (sp?). A milk Maid never gets the pocks. Our first line of defense against bacterial infections.

@amaryllis8974 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I can see why you need community for homesteading!! Definitely can't keep a bull year round for one cow. Those were big bulls, so be prepared for a good sized calf and possibly needing to help her deliver, unless the bulls were calving ease ( small birth weight calf ). Also, when she holds her tail out it means the bull connected and has made his.....deposit. Usually after that theres no need for further action, she should be bred! Really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing! 👍

Hopefully the calves aren't too big resulting in difficulty with being born. We switched to a Saler bull because the hereford bulls were producing big calves. Easy calving after the switch, never had to pull a calf after.

Just so you know, when a cow jumps on another cow or bull, its called bulling. It lest you know she is in heat. Not sure why they do it. Another thing is, you can save some money by grinding and cooking the grain. That will make it easier for her to digest and you will not be wasting grain. Whole grain does not get digested.
@BulletproofPastor Жыл бұрын
We have a dairy goat farm and when a doe is in heat it drives ALL the bucks crazy. Nothing is sacred or “out of bounds.” Does not in heat, other bucks, fence posts, bushes…. well, maybe not fence posts & bushes but you definitely had better watch your back if you have to go into the buck pen. Carrying a hefty stick is a good idea. What goes on in the barnyard should stay in the barnyard.

How I used to know my cow was in heat or season, which happens every 21 days until they get pregnant. The cow mounts other cows and has a bit of mucus coming from her vulva, she also has an odour that turns all the cows and bulls on, I let the bull have a few goes then when the tail on the cow went up just the last bit on her body I knew she would be pregnant and take her back out, it was always 100 per cent right and we always got babies, I also always used to rest the cow ( no milking or calves on her) for the last 3 months of her 9 month pregnancy before she calved again and gave her a mineral block with calcium to lick on.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I want to add commentary but I dare not!🤣 Amazing looking cheese!!! P.S. Just a wee bit sad to see yer coo is grain fed. Does that mean Ethan's whole herd is grain fed? Making changes is not easy. I understand. But I'll try to plant a wee seed here. I'm not an expert, but the bovine microbiome is not designed for grain. Grass fed beef. (Just planting a seed.🌱) Grass fed beef. More nutrient dense beef, milk and cheeeeeeese. ✌❤ P.P.S.Safety alert: If your cow eats grain do not suddenly stop feeding it grain. It can be weaned to eat less but it will always need grain. If ye want grass fed, ye have to start with grass fed. ✌❤
@Gridlessness Жыл бұрын
“Grain fed” generally refers to beef in a feed lot where they are fed grains, corn, silage etc…. but have nothing to graze on. These beef cows are 100% pasture raised and grass fed, but our milk cow gets a couple scoops of grain just while she’s milking.

We had a big black Angus bull and about 20 cows on my parents ranch. My Dad decided to call him "OJ" and "OJ" would fight with the neighbors bulls thru the fence, knock the fence down, chase the other bull off and service all their cows before he would come home. He did this so much that he wore all the hair off the knot on his forehead. All we really had to do to get him back was put a hand full of range cubes in a bucket and shake it. When the cubes were gone he would rub his head on you like a cat wanting attention. Had to watch it though, not too many cats are that big. He really was just a big baby. As far as YT, they probably think milk is made at the store along with all the other food. Not sure how people like that, ignorant, survive in the world.
