For a minute there, I thought The Stamps Quartet were his backup singers with JD Sumner doing the "Daddy sang bass" line. I believe JD still holds the record for lowest note sung. May he rest in peace.

Was in a record store (selling actual vinyl) the day he died. We all got alerts (not via cell but online) that JC had died. I saw a fellow customer searching the aisles. I mentioned, "Johnny Cash passed." He said, "God Bless Johnny Cash." I replied, "God Bless Johnny Cash." And we quietly went about our shopping. (Tears here.)
