There are a lot of people in the comments who are saying he's not ugly, and that ugly is acting in some sort of bad way or doing bad things. IF there's true, then by that very silly logic alone, everyone's "looks" are changing like a formless blob every minute of the day. That's not how looks work. How you look, is what's actually SEEN, and our appearance, is one of the main things that dictate that. AND FURTHERMORE, physically unattractive people are more likely to act in some sort of shitty way that attractive people. Why? Because the less than good-looking people are UNHAPPY with how they look, and if there's something wrong with the way you look, whether it be your visage, or if you're too heavy, that in turn, can affect your self-esteem, and how you feel, and THAT ALONE can affect HOW YOU ACT! So therefore how you look, and how you act, can go hand in hand together. As for 1980s actors, Patrick Swayze looked good to a lot of women, John Candy probably not so much. If Patrick and John acted EXACTLY THE SAME side by side, and said the exact same things side by side, I'm sure the vast majority of women would still flock to Patrick. If John acted slightly better than Patrick, the result would still probably be the same. Also, I imagine Patrick felt just fine in terms of how he looked and felt with his appearance, yet with John, he would have needed to probably lose around 100 pounds to have the same sort of physique as Patrick, so he probably didn't feel quite as good in his day to day life as Patrick did due to his appearance and weight. Yeah, John Candy was probably content in general, and probably had an alright life, including with women, but compared to Patrick Swayze, there was most likely a difference there due to the difference in their looks and appearances. The point is, if say that looks don't matter, then you are just lying and acting completely delusional. How someone treats you is important, yes, but how they look is important too.
