Take it from me being a die hard SPURS fan. These pistons we're my favorite team in the east because they played defense just as good as we did. It was insane. I can see how that Lakers super team was overwhelmed they used the same blue print pretty much my Spurs used to beat l.a. in 2003 to end their threepeat to perfection. These pistons we're just way better at it. Team Chemistry will always be stronger than a talented super team. That is why all the player's on these pistons team's we're deadly on the court. I still remember that 05 finals. This piston team was the hardest team I've ever seen.

I'm a die hard Det fan and feel the same way about the Spurs. I always rooted for them unless we were playing each other lol. Coaches were from the same tree and built their teams the same way. U guys just had better players and executed a little better when we played in the finals. One of the most hard fought finals I ever seen! Those were the days lol. Look at us now!!

@@LaStOnE_leFtbut dude take it from me I know a thing about the 04-05 season I aged during that incredibly long season watched and recorded just about every Spurs game even the eastern conference finals that went to 7 games where detroit won on the road. The Spurs had home court in the finals won the first two only to loose the next two in ridiculous blowouts. Detroit seemed unbeatable at home. If we didn't have luck and the will to pull away finally in that 4th quarter detroit would had won it. Just think of this we had our big three in their primes a solid center and a loaded bench. Yet we still barely won. That's insane That's how good that detroit team was. I'd pick them over any team just about. In other words that wasn't any ordinary Spurs title team it was our strongest in all honesty.

Dumars had nothing to do with shipping Grant to Orlando. Dumars retired that Off Season and DID NOT WANT Grant to leave. The Pistons did NOT want to get rid of Grant, but the mishandling of his Injury and wanting to go join with Duncan (or so he thought) meant he wasn't coming back. He agreed to do the Sign and Trade, because he was a Class Guy, and wanted the Pistons to get something for his leaving. If Dumars had his way, Grant would have still been a Piston.

People say they had no superstar. But their actual best player was Rasheed Wallace who was the Blazers franchise player. History gets convoluted because Billups was the finals MVP. But anyone that knows history knows that Rasheed was a major piece and the driving 🚗 force that pushed 🫸 them over the hump, resulting in an instant championship 🏆🍾 afterwards.

Yeah he was a big piece but a superstar is a clear cut best player like a superstar is someone you say we gotta build around this one player no team would build around sheed as good as he was as for Portland it was kinda the same boat they just had lots of good players that complemented each other but no on that pistons team was a generational player just a bunch of good starting caliber guys who had chemistry throw the roof I seen them growing up went to many games and this was just a well rounded team no clear best guy they all were good and played well with each other closest comparable team is 2014 spurs yeah they had Tim and kawhi was Making a name for himself but was just a team who played well with each other

Dope. All the KZbin videos I seen on this team are 5-10 minutes long maybe 15. No one goes depth it’s just a quick review of the starting 5 Players maybe going into details proceeding the 03-04 explaining why they could never win again but no one explained how they got here. Only interviews with the players explaining the past but never in a documentary on the whole team

@sportsfordays2039 First off, Rasheed was a superstar. Secondly, that Pistons team was stacked. Three superstars, possibly 4 if you count Hamilton. They were all in the Allstar game's. That right there already proves you have no clue what you're saying. And no they weren't Allstars because they were just shoe ins. All of them were legit starters and only Prince was a role player. The only reason y'all don't consider Ben a super star is because he was a defensive player. But seeing 👀 that he was the best defender and shot blocker debunks what you say about him not being a superstar 🙄.

@@sportsfordays2039Do you want to know why they got rid of Rick Carlisle? It’s because he was too hard on players. The Pistons had legendary scout Scotty Robertson (former local coaching legend) to talk to him, and Rick hung up the phone on him. Bill Davidson had to get rid of him at that point. There is one point of clarification.

Grant Hill had horrible ankle injury and played through it. He never sat out. Dumars didn’t decide to get rid of him, We wanted him back. Grant wanted to make a super team with McGrady and his wife wanted out of Detroit. Dumars was given a gift - That he capitalized on - with the request for sign and trade.
