13 BENEFITS OF KEEPING YOUR LIFE PRIVATE 1.People don't get to see your plans, they only see results and this constantly keeps them guessing. 2. More respect. Over-familiarity with the public attracts disrespect. 3. Less hate, drama and toxicity from the public. 4. It helps you gain inner-peace and genuine happiness without seeking for validation 5. When you're private, people don't know how and when to attack you. So, you keep haters confused. 6. Other people can trust you more especially with their personal lives. 7. You don't have to depend on others to be happy. 8. It saves you from mental health problems 9. You prioritize your happiness and self-growth more which makes life more beautiful. 10. People can not use your weaknesses against you 11. You focus on your purpose, passion, good relationships and other things that matter most in life without constant distraction. 12. Getting near retirement age and luckily i have been able to get off the rat race treadmill. Work is a necesary evil for most of us. I always viewed our system as a slave one. Like Prince once said, we are all workers on the plantation. I think he was correct. I had a lot of jobs and the last one i had was a dream job doing something i really enjoyed but i saw how the workplace changed in my 15 years with the company. I was paid well and i enjoyed what i did and i was still happy to quit. I have gone off track slightly as what i wanted to point out is how the work place has changed for the worst since i left school in the early 80's. Back then i used to look forward to going in as i made friends and the work was done but you could have a joke and chat. I watched this slowly erode as i changed jobs and time moved on. Work now is in such a toxic environment where nobody can seemingly be happy. Good riddence to it. Work sucks. And i say that having left my dream job. Think about that.

I've seen a job advert recently, saying that overtime (unpaid) is expected when necessary. I wonder why... Also it kinda feels like divide and conquer is working a treat. People sell their soul and betray their own feelings for the sake of the money, friends not just because they get on with someone but because it makes sense financially. And they're everywhere, low paid jobs, high paid jobs, no difference. Like this mug i see at the amazon warehouse when i pick up my flex block. A proper npc, jobsworth for his almost minimum wage job. But i guess eventually he'll get a promotion, woopee do. And I’ve noticed that all the social shit at work is a big clever game to keep us constantly distracted from what’s really going on behind the scenes. You might be on the redundancy list, but you’ll be so distracted with the social shit that you won’t know your on that list til that day comes. Work in general is a big clever mind game.

In the U.S. (depending on the state) there are laws in place requiring you to take your lunch and employers can be fined for not allowing employees to take lunches. Some companies may still pull shaming or gaslighting tactics on you to try to go "above and beyond", but they can't explicitly tell you without risking litigation.

Some people work for the job Some work just for the money. It amazes me how hard it is to get a interview for a job but there are so many useless crap workers you encounter every day.

True.
@ButternoteBackingTracks19 сағат бұрын
Topic as old as the hills. If you take on a job, assess what you're getting yourself into and decide if it's really for you. That might mean working long hours, megalomaniac bosses, unreasonable workload, crappy work environment, etc. It's up to you to determine this at an interview. Do plenty of research on the company and trust your instincts. If something feels off right at the start, walk away. Be realistic in your expectations, though. Companies will expect you to conform to their culture and values, not the other way around.

If your "boss" asks you to do overtime don't directly say "no" unless you have a nice boss, leave them hanging with something along the lines of "I'll have to check my diary" or "Iet me think about it", or "I am trying to see if I can make it work for you" don't just say these things look as thoughful as you possibly can when you say it - eventually they will give up and find someone else to do it lol.

postscript: after 30 years of busting a gut. I don't believe in the 'system' or 'establishment' any more. my daughter came out with 14 GCSE's - had the 'world at her feet' etc. but instead runs a lash tech business now and doing well. she wouldn't give up the self determination and work-life balance for working in a conventional office ever!

I stuck in at school and did get an education; it turned into a career and it worked for me but...... I know one girl in class was ultra badly behaved. she kicked off all the time..... about 10 years later saw her on the bus, she became self employed and had her own interior design business and doing well. the problem with school is it's an institution. they only have one roadmap - GCSE, A levels, Uni. nothing else is viable to them. but there's college, other vocational courses and other employers that provide training, as well as the creative and self employed route. you have a smart head on your shoulders Kady - a real thinker. you just have a different roadmap and destiny!

It's sad isn't it? I know people who didn't bother with school and are now successful with their own businesses. People who stuck with it and went to uni working a dead end 9-5 for a faceless corporation. School is nothing more than preparing people for the corporate world we live in. It's not education, it's indoctrination. We are creative beings. We shouldn't be wasting our lives away so the 1% can get even more obscenely rich.

When my boss use to say that I wasn't a team player, I just ignored her and went back to work. I don't come to work to join a team, a sorority club or a gang.....I come to make money so I can live. It is so tacky and ignorant to work for people who just want to talk about each other everyday and stab people in the back.

Imagine what it’s like in a hospital as a nurse on night shift for 12 hours a day. Those big heads will crush anyone into the ground your whole mind will change like a robot. Realise move quick and don’t look back even if you have to change carriers or jobs it’s not good for the health trust me. It’s them people that cause that environment within that place where people work that’s dull and nasty. Don’t worry they are new places even if it takes to leave to a new place.

I am 50 this year and when I started work after 2 years at college a guy coming up to retirement told me remember Craig you work to live not live to work and also they said the more you do for a company the more they expect you to do. It stuck with me. I can sniff out the Boss' narks a mile away in a company. Jedi mind tricks don't work on me I'm afraid.

I think they don't want it going back to how it used to be , when I first started work , many places were unions and the old school attitude was still strong , many workers weren't backstabbers and the boss never knew anything, out of a site full of 50 men , you may have to watch what you said to ons or two , as time has gone on , its the opposite ,,one or two decent ones , while the rest are backstabbers, the bosses learnt , if you are at war with one another , then you are not at war with them , the whole of society is similar these days , that's why I prefer my own company these days , can't trust anyone

Part of the problem is the feminisation of the workplace. In the old days when corporations were male dominated you at least knew who was boss and who you had to keep on the right side of. In the feminised workplace it's a lot less clear, with a much less hierarchical command structure which is constantly shifting according to who is popular that week.

I can sadly relate to all of this 💯 since I stopped drinking alcohol (4 years) I don't see the point in going to work events and I would rather exercise at home and work on my body goals and people can't understand it. My free time is precious and the way I see it, I'm not being paid for it. I always sensed I wasn't meant for office life as I've never fitted in but maybe that's bc I'm neurodivergent ⁉️

I get what you are saying but I have ZERO need of a one hour lunch of DEAD time. I would get bored after 15 minutes and at around 20 minutes I would want to throw objects out of windows etc etc. And lets be honest if I can use my lunch hour to get ahead why shouldn't I. It's not like I could do my washing or ironing, it really is dead time otherwise.

Yep yep and yep... You gotta watch out for those snakes in the grass (Great way to expose those types is to keep quiet at the start of any Job and like Cult members they approach you with sly little comments to try and get you onto their side) This is exactly why I started working for myself. If that fails at any point- I'm packing my bags and living in the F-ing woods. I would rather work 16 hours a day 7 Days a Week for myself just to earn minimum wage then ever go back to working for most companies.

I am 58 and semi retired and looking back over 40 years of contnuous full time employment I would summarize its key traits as 1. Consistently hitting targets and exceeding 2. Total punctuality and reliability 3. Always being a profit centre for whoever i worked for and lastly 4. Being treated like shit by management especially when you perform well, drowning in the consequences of office politics and never seeing a single one of those 40 years as in any way worth it other than as a means if survival. British employers and senior management are about the worst there is. They are cynical, hot-headed, have no people skills, are morally bankrupt and lie as often as politicians- manifestly unreliable. It was fascinating when working in London offices with people from all over Europe, to hear their views of the office and treatment shock of working here.

Some people have jobs that are meaningful to them, some people make an effort to endeavor and Excel in the field they work in, they make the time spent have value onto themselves. Some people want to collect a paycheck and go piss their life away at a pub, never really going anywhere, just temporarily escaping the hamster wheel of a life lived in obscurity. There is more ro life than work, money, things... But there is something to be said about those who make the present moment a thing of value. Id rather be the best gas jockey than the worst acrobat. But id also prefer to find a challenge and rise to it, than rot for 8 hours a day 5 days a week just to get a cheque
