Hello Daniel, I have a copyright question for you. I have a bunch of covers on my You Tube and I have a copyright strike on almost all of them, even though I'm doing my own version of each song, I have 2 radiohead covers by themselves with a strike on each, then a jam i uploaded the other day with the same 2 songs but that one isn't copyright. How can you tube decide to strike 2 videos but not the 1 video with both songs? How do i make my videos legit so I don't get any more strikes? I honestly don't care about getting paid but how do all these other channels get away with doing covers by I can't😂 any advice will help. And cool video on the condenser mic😊

I'll chime in since I have some experience with this. 1. Some bands don't care (rightfully enjoy the exposure). 2. Others want to ensure that views get credited to them and finally 3. some don't want you producing covers at all. This whole matter has been somewhat resolved within the youtube subculture following widespread deliberation back around 2018 - 2019. Most situations in my opinion revolve around 1,2. You will not get a "strike" for 1,2. You will get a "copyright claim" for 2. As for number 3...you can appeal the strike. A strike should fall away within 3 months if the policy hasn't recently changed. Others...feel free to correct / update.

@MelodyMaker thank you for the response, I don't think I'll ever get a huge following on my channel but there's always a chance, I suppose I should look into doing an appeal but at this point I have almost 20+ videos all with strikes so I'm guessing i would need to do a claim for each strike. That would maybe take awhile, unless I can appeal for the whole channel? Either way I'll look into this and i appreciate the help. 🙂

@@fenderfox5080 Most welcome Fender Fox. I'm thinking that those 20 + videos all have "copyright claims" instead of "copyright strikes". Copyright claims are category 2 (above) and should be just fine (any revenue transfers to artist). If you had 20 strikes - you would have been notified by youtube that your channel is in violation of terms. (3 strikes). Do double check if your videos are claims or strikes. If they are bonafide strikes then you want to reach out to youtube. BTW....there is no reason that your channel won't also find a strong following if you enjoy posting, have a good attitude (already evident), and are willing to learn.

@MelodyMaker thank you very much!! As far as I know they all just say Copyright or Copyright+1 , I've never researched what any of it means, i just assumed it was bad. Yes I will definitely keep a positive attitude, anything can happen 😊

The other channels don’t get away with it. They also get copyright strikes. At the end of the day, you’re recording someone else’s property. KZbin doesn’t “decide to give you a copyright strike “ the owners of the copyright do. Most will simply claim any money you make,or a share of that money and allow you to leave your video up. Some won’t. Never do an Eagles cover…

Couple of things. In past efforts you may have been out of your range. Your ear may need some training (which actually accommodates vocals). Others perceptions may have tainted your appeal for the pursuit. Sometimes you gotta be bad to be good. Think about getting a vocal coach.
