Fun fact, if the Burning blade sword lights enemies on fire, that means it damages clankers (gold skellies) without having to get them wet, assuming the fire from the blade works the same way firebombs do.

My issue with the new skeleton camps, is replayability, once done, you have that ancient relic that no one touches anymore camping 6 islands for eternity.

yeah, you're right. unlike skeleton forts or phantom forts, it gives a type of quest item and not loot, so not many people would probably use it. and plus, you need several of those to summon the burning blade, which upon completion gives an ORDER OF SOULS item. we already have the gold hoarder skull for oos, so why not make this new loot piece for a different faction? i know it wouldnt fit into lore well, but it would fit if you defeat something bigger than a galleon, and you only get ONE LOOT PIECE.

As far as I'm aware, the crew with the Burning Blade ship doesn't have to do the puzzles to get the Orbs, right? Now I can't remember where I heard that... Guess we'll find out soon enough. Edit: we'll need to do the puzzles, but not fight the skellies in the puzzle vaults.

This update is going to bring so much life to the game for every type of player. PvPers will foam at the mouth to get their hands on the Burning Blade, PvErs will get a bunch of endorphins figuring out the puzzles, and PvPvErs will get stressed out the wazoo doing one while trying to balance the other. The new detection mechanic will be fun to mess around with on ships and forts alike. I find it kind of interesting that the skeletons on the Burning Blade have an actual classification: Obsidian skeletons. That has my lore brain buzzing a little bit. Do you think that would mean they're deceased members of the Black Dog gang of pirates? I've always seen them as an elite combat faction in the Sea Of Thieves, but don't actual know if there is any lore out there concerning the set's origin.

as a PvPvEr I can tell you it won't be that stressful for me (though I can say otherwise for my crewmates) The new puzzles don't sound like world events where you need everyone off your ship. You just have to drop down 1 or 2 guys to figure it out while the rest stall for time, and call for backup if they really need to. They don't need to worry about securing a sink, just keeping the other ships incapacitated until the puzzle is finished. Same way we got the Curse of Sunken Sorrow on a very hot server.

I didn't expect the puzzles to be like world events, but with the Burning Blade no doubt being a sought after ship any pirates that come up against it while 1-2 crewmates are downstairs could be difficult to manage against others. You'll have the skeletons helping you, though. That will probably even the odds.

Quick question if you know by chance. I normally play as a solo sloop (by myself obviously). Has it ever been talked about if other crews can join me in manning the boat after its already been taken? I would assume that any crews taking it over with me would get to use it too, but what happens if you take it solo and want to team up with other pirates later? Is it just like a normal alliance or is it more like being the crew of a single ship where you get to respawn on the boat and everything.

How many can man it depends on what ship you had when taking it over. If you are solo you can inv a friend other than that its alliance im guessing and its probably crew based in how easy it is to sail like the other world events.

worst part is that they probably wont put the burning blade in safer seas (which i get, not only are reapers bones barred from any safe seas progress, but also its a player world event, so why put it in a space where there are no other players) but it will be a shame to not explore all its mechanics and secrets in a safe environment in order implement them better and more efficiently in the high seas. instead youll have to juggle defending and discovering. its a shame, but an understandable sacrifice

I hate it so much when content creators say something absurd and outrageous like "The sword of souls was chained to Tasha's nipple rings and was torn off by a skeleton dressed as a (parrot? pirate?). that's real lore! look it up!" when it isn't at all even close to real lore. Tasha had the sword chained up, came downstairs one morning to open shop, and the blade was gone. she never saw who took it, no one did. And the sword was obviously not chained to her nipples. It looks like a big season, and therefore will introduce hundreds of new bugs that will continue to interfere with the playability and stability of the game. There hasn’t been one season yet that I recall that has been smooth even past release. Rare will never or ever make the game “playable.” That huge 80 GB update recently actually made the game worse somehow. Due to how ambitious S13 is, undoubtedly it will inevitable break the game into an even worse state. Great job, Rare! I will definitely be re-installing just to uninstall shortly after. 😂
