They LEASE Farm Land by Bartering with Chicken Eggs (Yonah Mountain Farms)

Joe and Holly have a passion for farming but had no land to get started. They have used bartering to lease 3 farms and are now both running the farm full time. They raise beef, pork, lamb, goat, laying hens, and meat chickens. With no farming background they look at the last few years as one big experiment and continue to trial and change their methods as time goes on.

Another great interview! Well done. What a very interesting, knowledgeable, well spoken, passionate couple - he's right about so many things but he definitely hit it on the head when he talked about the percentage of people that want his type of product. I think a lot of people that are trying to do this face the same issues so it was interesting to hear how they manage it. I like his way of moving the paddocks.

Oh absolutely! I agree!! Hearing how he is using leased land was so important, in my opinion, because that’s probably one of the hardest parts of getting a farm going. It was so great to hear more about that with them.

I know for 40 years from my Topsoil Production. Totally Grazing is not good during Climate Crisis...you do not support 10 tons of soil life/ acre by not leaving half. I can consult on this. #asiflifeonEarthMatters

Oh that’s an interesting point. I’m sure this can be dependent on land geography among other things as well.
