To be fair we were not discussing her here but since you brought it up, May I? Yes, she is phenomenal and one of the sweetest voices I ever heard. 'Close To You, Rainy Days and Mondays, We've Only Just Begun' and many others by the Illustrious Karen Carpenter have brightened many a dark day for me. Comparing musicians is hard: Nina Simone vs Michael Jackson? The Beatles vs Bach? Karen Carpenter stands on her own. Peace to you🎉@@fabmack1961

Isaac Hayes: this love is eternal. I bought this album when it was released and was so amazed at its clarity -- especially in "Close to You." The background singers -- Hot, Buttered and Soul? -- voices seemed to cascade from the heavens -- absolutely majestic -- especially in the closing vamp. Isaac Hayes was a genius.
