Harinder "Harry" Singh (Shahid Kapoor), is a happy-go-lucky Punjabi guy. By chance he meets the beautiful Aayat (Sonam Kapoor). She has been sent to Punjab with her aunt, Fatima, because of the tensions in Kashmir. At first Aayat is hesitant about her feelings for Harry, as they come from different backgrounds and religions. Later, they fall in love, but their relationship remains untested. Significant events keep separating them.
