I see Josh as a tragic character. Yes, the prank was too much, absolutely, but compare it to Hannah’s prank. Josh was simply going to scare them while Jess and Emily were video-taping Hannah and most likely would use it as blackmail later on down the road.They didn’t even try to stop it when Hannah started taking off her shirt. If you dig more into the lore, it’s revealed Josh already had a mental illness and was given the wrong medication for years. Because his parents were neglectful towards him, they didn’t notice how his meds were not helping him and the only people that actually cared for him were his sisters. So imagine your entire support system disappearing all in one night while you were supposed to be having fun. Josh was hurt, bewildered, and perhaps a bit ashamed because he wasn’t there to protect his siblings. He stopped taking his correct medication and even the therapy sessions with Dr. Hill were not happening. And yet again, his parents weren’t noticing thier son’s behavior. The Washington siblings are quite the tragic characters since neither of them were given any sort of help before it was too late.

I need the stream chat to remember that Berlin actually did WELL on his first playthrough. He made the wrong choice at the *very* end and got people killed. Everything was fine (all things considered) until that point. And to be fair, it was an intense scene. Matt and Emily were out trying to find things, Jess in the mines, and Mike trying to find "justice" for what he thought was Jess dying. tbh i don’t hate ashley but i agree with what you’re saying for the most part. as someone with generalized anxiety disorder, i feel like people chalking up all of her actions to her “anxiety” is such a poor excuse for some of her worst behavior. i’ve been in my fair share of scary situations (not to the extreme of until dawn lol) but i’d like to think that i would not do half the things ashley did in her situation. the fact that she can straight up let chris die if he didn’t want to kill himself over her is crazy, AND she can encourage the exile and/or death of emily! josh was fucked up for the prank he pulled, but his mental illness(es) is/are way more of an excuse for his behavior than ashley’s “anxiety”. he is way more of a sympathetic character who even expresses that he doesn’t want anyone to die despite the fact he blames many of them for his sisters’ deaths. the only characters who are “innocent” in this are really sam and chris, who both did not participate in the prank or at least tried to stop it. ashley is still a guilty party who can straight up dismiss her involvement in the prank and blame hannah for her own death! it’s wild she’s seen as so perfect/sympathetic/relatable.

Berleezy needs to check out the decision based game "Road 96". Its like a mixture between Nocturnals and Life is Strange 2, under 10 hours and has some truly terrifying moments. Keeping it to the point, you play as young teens trying to make their way to the border to flee a country in civil unrest. Decisions matter and pretty much everyone has a different playthrough because they randomize all the different interactions you can face. Definitely a good way to showcase your skills in getting a good ending/saving your characters
