It really is a fun game. Have you tried solitarica? Came out quite some time ago, has the same concept as in buying cards and upgrading things, except it works as solitaire, not poker.

Btw the way the game came out fully today. Also, the planet cards fully upgrade the level of the hand. For example the Pluto upgrades high card so you will always play a level 2 high card when you decide to play it. There are definitely more builds than what you were going for, you can manipulate the deck to the point of having only one suit or repeats of one card, there are retriggers and mult multipliers that can send the score to the damn moon. It's very fun with a little knowledge going into it.

balatro definitely has a tall (but not necessarily steep) learning curve) but i think you'd have a lot of fun with it when you learn the mechanics of it it has a lot of deep intricacies that are more nuanced than anything it might imply at face value

Not sure if you found out by now, but jokers with the ‘Negative’ effect don’t count towards the 5 maximum jokers you can have. They’re essentially extra jokers and you should pick them up if they don’t actively ruin your run. Also for every 5 coins (to a maximum of 25 coins) that you hold onto you get an additional coin (5 max) on completing a blind. I think there might be a joker that modifies this mechanic, but not sure.
