One of humanity's weaponry ideas is to round up a bunch of small dense rocks and hurl them _at relativistic speeds_ into a target, essentially turning said target into metallic confetti. Basically akin to shotgunning a target with BBs moving at 150,000+kps. Sounds a lot like what the human ship used on the cruisers. Worse part of this is that it would punch neatly through shielding if said shielding were only tuned to handle directed-energy weapons - you'd need shields capable of handling kinetic kill weapon impactors, and if the rocks were small enough they could still slip through and make your day very brief and unpleasant. (See also, the TV show "The Expanse," wherein this was an actual weapon. "The Expanse" has some of the most hardcore scientifically-accurate space combat scenes ever created, so the fights and weapons used in those fights are based on hard science.)

The Expanse is a fantastic series up until the last couple of books. The authors lost the plot. Amos and Alex are great.

To be fair, if they weren't able to see the use in unconventional tactics, they'd force humans to not fight at all, so they CAN go for it, but it has to be shown to be good quickly, which it sounds like humans did REALLY well.

When these aliens have run out of ideas to destroy an enemy they send in humans to handle it, human response in this is usually “*smiles* oh this is gonna be fun”. As whatever commander gave the order likely shudders at the thought of what fate is to befall their enemy.

Actual Aliens would have insults that even when translated and explained properly...Humans would just go Huh? Obviously a very immature author. In what environment do professionals use that type of language. I was twenty years in the infantry and while we had some colorful language we knew when and when not to use to. I guess some Woman or Manboy wrote this who has no idea how real men in uniform speak. You can tell by the cartoonish language in this story. It reminds me of Shock Jock Comedians that resort to the F-word and jokes about masturbation because they cannot write real jokes.
