Permadeath is only one aspect of a nuzlocke, a nuzlocke of this would mean imposing the additional restriction of only being able to catch the first encounter on each route.

I’ve played through this before, so a few things to keep in mind. The routes are described with 2 words. The first describes difficulty, and the other is a “type hint”. In the config lab, there’s an option to turn off EVs, which I would recommend, but your preference. Returning to the hub resets everything, so EV changes don’t stick. Mons up to gen 8 are in, but past gen 3 is locked behind post-game. Post-game being having completed a full run. Hope this was helpful for everyone!

You don't actually need to beat the game to unlock post gen 3 mons, you can just go to the config lab, interact with the window up there and a secret stairway will open where you can change the gen limit

I really enjoyed Lotad's AutoBattler and this video, and seeing you explore a rogue-like and learning the mechanics (most rogue-likes have some varying levels of what stays between runs and what resets) is awesome as someone who enjoys the genre a lot. Hey Cal! First of all please do continue this as a series, it's really entertaining to watch cause the romhack itself is hella fun; I've been playing for like a week straight non-stop lol. Also, there ARE other gen mons, you have to either beat the champion or access a secret room to unlock them, won't spoil how though.

A rogue-lite/like is basically a game where each time you die you restart and start from the beginning with nothing. Some have permanent progression as well, usually in passive skills or more stuff becomes available.

I love Roguelike's, and finally seeing a Pokemon mod now a Roguelike, is so fun, I'd honestly love to watch more Roguelike game's of this. It reminds me of the Battle Factory, one of my personal favorite features/locations in the Battle Frontier, allowing you to pick out random Pokemon, having to constantly swap them and take chances is super fun.

Battle Factory is the best facility in the battle zone of emerald. I would pay 50 CHF of a fully developed battle factory game. Roguelike Pokemon Game with a bigger variety and competetive lvl. NPC AI.

This is such a lovely game, I've been spending so many hours on it! One suggestion that I can give you is to always make sure you sell useless stuff anytime you reach a shop, money is essential and especially once you'll get all of your tms permanently, you'll get access to a lot of items, many of which will be useless to your strategies most of the times, so it's pretty productive to sell as much as you can any time you have an occasion for it!

'I don't have surf yet' Yeah and they really make you work for it. Definitely a fun little thing to kill some time with. Just finished my first full run, finding two legendaries back to back definitely made it a LOT easier to go through, the fact it was Sol!Necrozma and Kubfu certainly didn't contribute to the ease. Because there is a way to unlock the extended stuff before completing a full run.

One thing I’ve always wanted was a Pokémon game where the Pokémon’s levels adjust as you progress to the point where it mostly makes it not possible to one hit KO Pokémon with a standard attack. Like unless you super effective and/or crit, you’re not going to sweep a trainers team.

In the starting hub, if you go into the Settings building and talk to the window you unlock a room in which you can unlock Pokemon up to Gen 8 and Mega Evolutions.

You can actually get Pokemon beyond Gen 3, but only after you clear a full run or unlock it with a secret method. If you had that unlocked, you could have evolved Porygon2. You probably knew that by now but some viewers might not know, yet. The little statue to the left, in Gyms, tells you what Type the battle will be, for a cost. Great video!

So a bit of a heads up, you do have access to other gens, you just have to become the champion which means completing an adventure, there is also a quest log which makes the game less repetitive and more fun. If you press A in the stats menu of a pokemon it shows its IVS and EVS you can increase the mons IVS the game show (the old guy in the green suit). Make sure to chech out the house to the keft of the lab there you can switch the game mode, Hope you enjoy the game 😊

You pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to my issues with rogue likes. I do enjoy, however, rogue lites with permanent progress and an end goal, like Returnal and Hades. Hades dragged out wuite abit going for completion and there wasn't enough variation, but even after 70 hours on Returnal, I'd still be down to go back and do it all over.

In the HUB in the building near the Lab is the configuration place to change the game. Click on the window to access the hidden stairs and in that room you can change what Gen you play and pick up the Mega & Z rings

In gens 1-4 crits do x2 damage. Lucky egg boosts xp on the mon it is equipped to by x2. This game lets you farm held items if you catch something with thief or covet (skitty, meowth, zigzagoon, slakoth), and leftovers sell for 2k and are found on snorlax in the first area.

Cal I beat this Rom in 1 Day and your gonna love it. I would advise to invest in a Amulet Coin and or a Luck Incense as soon as possible. If you can get 2 of them doesn't matter which. That will solve your money right away Edit: Funny you found Porygon cus that was my starter 😁

To Lotad, if you like roguelikes, I recommend Rogue Legacy 2. The first is also cool, but the sequel is far more polished and came out of Early Access fairly recently. I'd also recommend Hades, but I'm sure there's no need, everyone and their grandmother has heard of Hades xD

I like to use the random trader to get interesting teams. On my first run I traded 5 bug types I caught on the previous route and a snorunt for. A kyogre, deoxys, machamp, shuckle, venusaur and beedrill. It was a fun run especially because I got a legendary route immediately after and caught another kyogre.
