I think it will be like the transition from horses to cars. The cars became the ordinary thing used to travel, and the people who liked horses got special places to use them. I think that the self-driving cars will become standard, and those who enjoy manual cars get to drive them on places specifically built for them.

I really enjoyed Tenet. Not because I understood it obviously, like I'd say I get about 60% of it, but I'd probably have to watch it again another 5 times before I can say that I fully get the timeline. No the reason I like it is for the vibe. I generally am not too picky about plots and stuff, as long as it looks, sounds and feels great. Also I just like movies that kinda mind-f you like that. I've seen it twice now, and both times I was sitting there for like 10min afterwards trying to figure out the chain of events for some scene.

Wirtual's talk about unlocks does raise some game-making questions, and I think a great one is Nadeo's design philosophy: minimalism. At it's core, everyone plays the same Trackmania. A few keys, no stats, no manual gear change or extra shenanigans. In a way, there is a certain unity between the community of players, where nobody has a true core element separating them from anyone else and the thing distinguishing you from a pro player isn't some 50$ Fortnite skin or some inconceivable hardware, but simply and beautifully one's dedication and skill. I also feel like that's why the ice physics were changed, to embrace better this minimalistic feel of the game itself. In that sense, I would compare it to solving the Rubik's cube, which I have personally gotten into 2 years ago. When you keep grinding, you don't get some new unlock or some injection of dopamine, the beauty of it is differed gratification, slow improvements over time that culminate in a certain sense of pride, not because you get to show off a cool skin, but because you as a person have improved. Now I understand that in our modern generations have in part lost the patience to really appreciate this side of life, in fact, im pretty sure absolutely nobody will have read until this point in the comment, and that's OK, i'm not saying everyone should 'grow up' and enjoy this elusive concept of non-material wealth, i'm just saying that if you feel like you lack dopamine because it's been 20 minutes since you havent had your last unlock, maybe take a step back, look at how you've grown, and feel the pride of what you have accomplished as a player, for a wise man once said a quote along the lines of: 'some people are so poor that all they have is material wealth, like those stupid skins'. Have a good one.

10:50 Bounty and the coconut Twist are good. They are even better because almost no one else likes them, so there are more for me. On the other hand, Twist recently ruined the marzipan piece. It used to be top 2, now it's among the bottom. 12:00 Self driving cars have been safer than human driven cars for over a decade already, even with other human drivers on the road. But their failure modes are different and therefore scary. For every "A human driver would never fail this way", there is a dozen ways a human driver would fail that a self-driving car wouldn't. But people can't see past it. Also, there is the issue of privacy, which I don't think we should overlook. I don't want my car to actually spy on me, many already do, and self-driving cars will only be worse unless it's regulated *very* strictly. 20:45 As a father of a 3yo, yeah, Peppa isn't too bad. It's interesting because I had the exact same mentality for a long time. That self-driving cars would have too many issues as long as the majority of cars out there were driven by humans still. Humans are just way too dumb and unpredictable (myself included at times) for even the smartest programmer in the world to create something that would be safe. I've come around, though. I think that I am ready to head towards self-driving as soon as possible for several reasons. 1) liability. Most of them out right now are not meant to be used for actual driving. They come with a disclaimer that you shouldn't use them at speed or something or you'll still be at fault if it doesn't work right. Eventually, though, they will be designed to drive, and they will be liable in the event of an accident. You can never be held liable for a self-driving car getting into an accident. 2) consistency. I can't tell you how many accidents I've avoided by assuming everyone around me is about to do the absolute, stupidest, most dangerous move they could possibly do and been right... and sometimes, they still surprise me by coming up with something even dumber than I could. Imagine how much easier it will be for the remaining human drivers out there to avoid an accident as more and more cars become AI driven, AI's who never get impatient, never consider themselves above the law, or more important than everyone else. AI's who are programmed to follow every traffic law to the letter. 3) endurance. The longer I'm in a car, the more likely I am to make a mistake. That's not true of AI. I've never actually been in an accident, but I notice myself becoming complacent with age. There are times in the car I realize how I just wasn't paying attention for a bit, and I just happened to get lucky and nothing bad actually happened. it's only a matter of time before my luck runs out. AI never gets distracted, never gets tired, never relaxes it's rules because "nothing bad's happened in a while." This is really just consistency part 2, but there are several angles to consistency that AI will beat out humans every time. 4) reaction times. No need to expound. If you think you're faster than a computer, get help. 5) sensor data. the AI drivers can look in every direction at the same time. They don't need to guess how fast other cars are going, they can directly calculate it. They have the ability to see things we can't (like infrared or LIDAR that can cut through fog, snow, or heavy rain). 6) statistics. People are worried about what happens when things go wrong. What if there is a glitch? What if they get hacked? What if, what if, what if... I'm fully aware no solution is perfect. All humans are imperfect, and therefore, all AI will ultimately also be imperfect. And it's entirely possible for a rogue cosmic ray to swap a bit in the firmware from a 1 to a 0 and mess things up. But imagine the worst case scenario: one car company gets hacked, the hackers manage to crash 20,000 cars in a day, and 5,000 bad enough that there were casualties. That's awful. That's terrible, and it will hopefully point out a flaw that will be fixed, saving even more lives in the future. it only takes 5 years where AI cars save 1,000 deaths/year to be better off with self-driving cars than without in that situation. If you don't think self-driving cars can prevent 2.3% of vehicle deaths, then I can't help convince you. That's an absurdly small amount considering the other reasons I've already given. Of course, self-driving cars are going to be a big target for hackers, but so is Google. When's the last time your Gmail account got hacked? That may be a poor question because who's to say who's fault that was. When's the last time you heard about a massive number of Gmail accounts getting hacked at once? They are on the forefront of cybersecurity to keep themselves ahead of the hackers. I sure hope there would be similar standards on self-driving cars. Not to mention, they need to be able to work without an internet connection anyway, because what happens during a thunderstorm? What if you pass through a swarm of bugs and lose connection temporarily? They can't just lose control for a few seconds while they regain connection. I am 99.999% convinced that even 1 self-driving car will save at least one accident. There's about a 1.07% chance of a car accident being fatal, so 107 self-driven cars would be expected to save a life. That's all I need to hear. I'm jumping on board as soon as I can.

Started Trackmania today. Watched a few videos about techniques etc and played the training maps. Two things i noticed: 1. My pc is crap. I regularly have framedrops, and even if they are just minimal it's really annoying when you need to be precise. 2. I HATE ice. The first training map with only ice got me an headache and i couldn't get gold. The second one i didn't even try after getting silver. The last one i only did bronze because of the last ice part. Then i started the campaign and the third or fourth one was again only ice. Somehow i managed to get gold but it wasn't fun at all. I know i just started and Wirtual has lots of experience, but even if my pc was good i wouldn't be motivated to learn the ice mechanics :/ Props to him to make it look easy 😅

My man, tenet is unbelievably great. The method of time travel is amazing, creative, and adds rewatchability. I mean, the ending makes you get a new grasp on why the protagonist was saved in the start. What starts as a weird mystery (almost plot armor for him to live) turns into a really deep moment. The thing is... the audio design turns alot of people off. In a world where everyone has full control over everything in their lives, they kinda don't like it when the audio jumps around. Even if it is done on purpose because you ARE NOT supposed to listen, you're supposed to see what the character sees, so everything makes sense. But I mean, even music production does this. Listen to any dong from the 1980's, and you'll realise you MUST turn the volume up a decent amount to hear all the instruments. However, listen to anything after like 2015 and you'll realise that all the instruments are on the same volume level. Why? Because people want background music, not real music, so they only listen to music like that. So producers noticed. And artists (as well as producers) prefer having songs that make money, so that means songs that people listen to. But people only listen to catchy music, so if the catchy part isn't as catchy when the volume is lower... nobody likes it because they only listen to the radio in the car when they have to focus on the road (where the volumes is usually lower).

What most people tend to ignore is that the vast majority of self-driving cars have steering wheels. Self-driving cars don't inherently mean you never drive, it just means you don't have to. I don't think anyone should be behind the wheel of a self-driving car without knowing how to drive in case of emergencies, but self-driving cars can definitely improve a lot of things. Again, self-driving cars don't mean the end of regular driving, they just mean there's the option to not drive. Remember those idiots on the road that probably should have their licenses revoked? You probably wouldn't have to deal with them because they aren't driving anymore.

On self driving cars: I love my gas powered cars. I have done the research, because I also care about the environment. I am yet to be convinced that electric powered cars will sufficiently reduce carbon emissions at all. I would actually say that electric cars will ultimately produce the exact same amount of carbon into the atmosphere. Because the production of the car batteries, as well as the recycling of those batteries (which is impossible btw... lithium kinda turns out to be a huge hazard), won't reduce carbon emissions. If you are not convinced yet. Here is another issue: charging. What does it help we all have electric cars, but we currently don't have 100% clean electricity in our cities? Now... what happens when we overload the grid by replacing all the gas powered cars with electric cars? It crashes. And trust me, as a sourh african who suffers from loadshedding (currently stage 6, so that means you have about 10-12 hours of having absolutely no power in your area EVERY day, but usually we hang around at stage 2 or 4, which is 4 to 8 hours a day without electricity), you guys don't want it. It will actively cause more harm to the economy, which in the long run (especially like 200 years from now) will lead to less progress in the renewable energy scene. With that said: self driving cars with combustion engines... not a smart idea. But companies WILL do it. Here me out: what happens when you are late on your monthly payment for your car when it can just drive itself back to the dealer? What happens when the government forces these companies to jand over control of your car to them? You like privacy? Well a self driving car has the tech to completely delete any privacy you have. Even if you don't tag your location on social media, if you're super careful to hide your location, or ANYTHING of the sort, it won't matter. It takes one hacker to know exactly where you are, because that will almost always be close to your car. What I'd that hacker decides to take control of your car? Like while you are driving? As solution to that problem would be a manual override, which allows you to force it to shut down (kinda like in iRobot), but here's the problem... Tesla has a built-in function to remove control from you, in the case that it senses an incoming accident that it will try to avoid... but imagine what a hacker can do with that ability. Here's the best part. Nobody cares about car crashes. Imagine instead of like assassin's, you just have hackers ramming cars into trees. Blaming AI. Imagine the cold war, with self driving cars. America and Russia would constantly k1ll off each other's officials without any knowing. Imagine instead of what happened to JFK, the dude just hacked his car and drove it into a building, while he sits behind a computer in Egypt. In short... self driving cars (as well as electric cars) are a horrible idea, but it can be great if you just iron out some kinks and pass some legislation.

Would a "skate" effect block be cool? Like, when you go over it, steel blades would pop out of the wheels, and the car would have virtually no friction on ice in forwards direction, but amazing grip in lateral direction. It should probably turn the engine off as well, as I don't see what use the engine would be with skates. Could be interesting, you could for example make bobsleigh tracks where the car actually functions more lika a bobsleigh.

I love how wirtual only reads chat, and then goes tryhard whenever someone writes a message on a donation

I love these videos but I have a request, if it isn't too much of a pain, before transitioning to a new level could you include a clip of the WR run of each map?

@theksefan011 Жыл бұрын
@@SinclairWest dude, this video already is 1 hour long lol
@SinclairWest Жыл бұрын
@@theksefan011 yes. And add at least 20 minutes of maps we've already seen without wirtual commenting? Why would I watch that?
@Bass_TTV Жыл бұрын
Would've like to add but needed to keep the length down a bit, we also usually make a video of him reacting to them all so stay tuned :D

On the note of self driving. It needs a self driving only situation due to human error. Less human error means its safer for ai to set up proper routes and taking the other cars into consideration as they can easily relay direction between them.

at that point why not just use trains, or like, why not just use trains and buses instead of cars in general

The tracks with water on it, I reckon they put anti-freeze to keep the water from being frozen. Makes sense.
