The untouched bombshell here is that Lois is so terrible at cleaning (an act that should take 4 hours at most (over the course of an entire week, if I am being exceedingly generous) that it occupies her whole week and takes her attention off of child care, meal prep, and any hobbies she could taken up, given her privileged position as a white stay-at-home mom who it can be seen puts her youngest kid in pre-K, if she wasn't such a terrible mother and horrific housekeeper

My parents made cleaning our relatively small house out to be such a goddamn chore it was ridiculous. They acted like doing certain chores ate up so much time and that they never had time to relax. They left for a week long trip and I alone managed to get out entirely house spotless in just a couple hours on the first day they were gone, and since it was just me and the dog, I only had to clean up after him which wasn’t that hard. They came home and said it had to have taken me a couple days and I showed them the pics I took of the house before and after I cleaned, and showed them the timestamps to be in the same day. It’s really not hard to do when you don’t have people squawking in your fuckin ear and making it out to be this horrible time consuming chore.

Life isn't hard because it's just "so much work" It's hard because doing the same damn things day in and day out, day after day, week after week, year after year, wear away at your actual soul. Back before the single minded need for "large scale efficiency" reduced every job to a series of monotonous tasks, we had more variety and enrichment in our lives from doing basic required shit. Now if you need your car fixed or your hair done better you just do what you would have done anyway for an extra couple hours and pay someone else who just fixes cars or styles hair for a living to do that shit for you. Maybe they'll do it better than you would have, but dammit human beings thrive on variation and novelty. We *want* to learn new things, and try new skills, because it makes us feel great when we prove we can.

It's funny how right now they make it look easy but later in the episode they show that while it may not seem difficult at first but given time thats when it starts to settle in, with chris being stressed from having to stay in from work and dealing with life at home, even meg starts to feel it mainly just having to deal with chris, so by the end of no one really has it easy

@@M4x_P0w3r depends on travel times, for me in the Chicago city area, 30min drive one way on the best day. When picking up, you wanna be early due to rush hour times, that can take 45mins one way, so on an off day of no school, it saves close to 2 or 3 extra hours of travel I don't have to do to get other stuff done during the day time.

@willgroody5296
@willgroody5296 3 ай бұрын
I think this is exactly why Lois is the nastiest to Meg, as megs achievements are her own hard work not her looks which Peter often disparages as she’s aging, or her daddy’s money. The only thing she has is being a housewife and she’s crap at that, she doesn’t actually seem to really pay attention to Stewie and often Brian is the real parent. When Chris looks after his girlfriends twins he explains he’s seen her do it, and her with Stewie and it doesn’t look that hard, Stewie even says you just shattered her. In Seahorse Seashell, Meg calls her out for constantly ruthlessly calling out Megs shortcomings after being; a shoplifter, prostitute, drug addict and whore, when Lois says they made her a better person Meg points out they haven’t. Also in Throw it away Tricia’ book says if something brings no joy throw it away she throws her family away showing she doesn’t care about them at all, it’s also Implied when Stewie finds out he’s an oops baby it was pretty much because Lois wanted another kid to justify her do nothing life.

"She has no idea how hard cooking is." Um. What? Cooking isn't hard. It's literally following directions and paying attention. And the only thing that Meg would have had to keep track of was Stewie and Brian, being the baby and the dog that could cause more messes as the day progresses. It's not hard at all. Tiring? Can be, but not hard. Of course, add more younger kids and animals and that becomes more tedious.

yep. if you are fast enough, all the housework can be done in 2 hours. dishes, vaccuming, cleaning the tub, dusting, washing clothes, etc. and cooking, including prep, cooking/baking, and cleaning afterwards, all can be done in 2 hours for most cooking items. leaving lois with 12 hours of nothing. and meg basically showed her how that was done.
