Personally I'm fine with it. The community kinda made all of these movement glitches a big part of the gameplay loop. Tbh I think they should make gamemodes where one has the buggy movement everyone loves, and the other is more grounded. I do see how it can get annoying for new players though. When you get someone who can REALLY exploit these movement tricks? It's exasperating trying to kill them.

1:42 To go over some context over the main target(s) “leapsliding” or the more current version “hopsliding” Leapslide was basically having an instant emp-slide jump boost while being in the air to not be affected by ground friction all compacted into ***one key*** allowing the player to use this speed boost with little to none skill expression when playing. After some time they pushed an update to change the mechanics of emp sliding so basically leapslide was nerfed so that you wouldn’t get the boost in speed if you emp-slided to fast. Couple days after the update “Hopslide” although similar in mechanics having the standing slide boost and no ground friction didn’t have an emp slide jump boost causing it to be not affected by the emp-slide nerf. When Hopslide was released to public view and had given the same problem with leapsliding **being one key** throwing away skill expression yet again… The devs response is them getting upset at the movement community and basically just nerfed movement into the earths core.

Honestly, nerfing overall movement wasn't that needed. However, nerfing the spam-movement was kind of needed to prevent the level 200 sweats from being able to miracledodge every bullet (this coming from a level 138)

I've said this before somewhere but I will say it again they are trying to "ground" phantom forces from what it seems (despite doing so horribly) by limiting attachment combos like 12.7 and squad barrel on svk 12 and making the ak12br "realistic" when there are games like blackhawk rescue mission 5 that do it much better. Trying to go "grounded" is effectively rejecting the current player base in hopes of replacing them with a possibly larger audience. They are designing a game for themselves, not for the community.

On one hand, I don't like that some of the updates we've gotten aren't thst great for the community, however i understand that to keep the game going, they need to have a larger playerbase, possibly at the cost of a lot of current players. It's a hard thing to juggle. We'll see how it plays out, but regardless I hope for the continued success of PF 💪

Movement wasn’t crazy, there WERE exploits to it but they were always patched out as they were just that, *exploits* not intended design. The movement community just turned PF into a movement shooter because for everyone else, it’s a grounded cover shooter. The maps are so cool, it’s a shame they’re all treated as just a flat piece of ground to try and move tech all around in less than 20 seconds.

Lito has said that he wants to kill the movement as it wasn't his original vision or something like that, but let's be real if you've seen footage of Lito playing you'll realize that he probably doesn't want it in the game because he's bad at it. Instead, they should do something with the audio. Something I've always noticed about PF is that the audio is very empty, and that makes the game kind of dull in a way. At times there is no sound whatsoever going on except for the sounds your player makes while moving.

about the audio thing i think the audio still sounds pretty good (played before they completely changed the audio like 6 years ago) but i think some bg noises and some grenade bouncing noises would b good i find myself walking into a room with a grenade in it that i couldnt see a lot and i think if it made a sound when it bounced it would help

I find that getting shot at is annoying. Hard to tell if you're being shot or just suppressed sometimes. Also third person gun sounds range from "Audible sometimes" to "Buddy is shooting next to me with an unsuppressed rifle and I didn't know he was there"

How about they fix spawns and add newer maps with better spawns and balance guns correctly instead of trying to force people to play slow by making the movement unfun, sure slower people cant spawntrap as much but its still the devs fault for not making a good map. It's not the worst thing stylus has done but I will say this will be a bad change, what they could add which will be harder to do is ranked sessions where new players are thrown into a session with people of the same rank, same with rank 50 rank 100 and further, while the movement is a big change for the game which will have a big impact on the community and it's player base I think everyone who hates this idea should try the test place and see what needs to stay and what can change for the update and give feedback to stylus

I was gonna suggest if they really wanted to nerf the movement, then make a casual playlist with nerfed movement, and then another "hardcore" playlist. I’m honestly excited for this change, I play PF off and on and I’m pretty decent, I use standard movement and I can do some speed tricks but they’re not vital But when someone who has only practiced the movement comes in none of the other systems in the game matter anymore, they’ll just feel like they’re dodging bullets and completely ruin any dynamic element from a gunfight, especially since most of them just use whatever is meta at that moment

Also wallrunning being removed prolly has sumn to do with map design in general, because a mechanic like that being in your game also means that you need to account for it being used to potentially break maps, and you also need to make space for it, so it being removed could also mean that we’ll get more maps/map variety

The only benefit I can see with wall-sliding is negating some sort of fall damage. Overall, I see the meaning behind this change and I look forward for my return. But the removal of wall-sliding will be harsh to try negate fall damage.

Played this game back in 2016 quit in like 2018-2019 and i come back to the game this year and its so sad to see a bunch of sweats thinking they are the easter bunny spamming jump and holding m1 its just so annoying and unrealistic so im glad they are slowing everything down and im not a noob either i just hit lvl 100 in about a month and a half with a 2.4kdr but i can see the movement as being very annoying for new players and the sweats make the game not much fun

Everybody in this comment section cries that the game is gonna die from the removal of high-tier movement techs, and I say : I, personally, have never used any of these techs and still find joy just in playing with fun guns, like making the smallest guns possible and running them, making the BIGGEST guns possible, and running them, making meme builds and fragging out with them, etc.. I would compromise with removing the unfair techs that, currently, allow people to run at mach 10 where you can't possibly shoot them. Nerfing base movement is not good, though. Most of the people that say, "ohhh phantom forces is ending", that I've seen personally, are high rank sweats that are addicted to the meta like it's crack. I don't think this will end the game, I hope you, the reader, can find fun in this game in other ways than basing your entire enjoyment of the game on a rickety bridge held up with popsicle sticks, to disappear at the snap of developers' fingers.

I'm unsure about what I would react to this change, yes they purely nerfed stam movement, but it might affect people who used the movement features alot, neither that I only used stamina movement for extra speed (running/dashing). Maybe the tradeoff is, I can easily aimed people unlike the past I guess?

i think the movement is the most fun part and the least fun part is being sniped from like 1000 studs away which becomes even more inevitable than it already is when you're slower also for all of the people saying that movement is so hard and it's super sweaty and that they want it removed, it takes like 15 minutes to learn how to do most of the movement in the game i have no idea what you're on about

I hate the movement in PF. Made the switch to Frontline recently as a modern Roblox shooter. It doesn't get very many updates anymore but at least I don't have to deal with everyone thinking they are Usain Bolt and jumping 20 feet in the air. I miss when you could only sprint forward in PF and not in all directions.

The actual thing that's going to make people leave is spawning on the gas station at crane site and immediately getting killed by snipers and lmgs without getting to do anything - it's not fun or interesting, there's little you can do and it's not even aspirational, as in you don't get the feeling that you want to be the guy that's spawncamping. Meanwhile, trying to hit the high ranked player with good movement is fun, it's possible if he's distracted by your teammates, and it attracts you to the game, because you also want to learn how to do what he's doing.

the only movement that I hate in PF is when people are leaping up 15 feet in the air and jumping into 2nd story windows or leaping up and lasering me the moment they spot me. I don't think all of the advanced movement is bad, sliding, wall running, the sprint dive thing are all fine, but you should not be able to leap up so high

No not at all. Splitting playerbase is the worst scenario. Onboarding already messed it up bad(seriously half of the online players are in there at any give time). V5 movement was fine they can go back to that while also lowering the ttk. Or they can just not touch it at all, which is what they should do.

Adding Community made tutorials in the game regarding movement and/or creating separate servers that toggle movement tech (We're still waiting) would probably have changed the outcome of having movement removed. I just want to enjoy pf (my definition of enjoy is not seeing the goddamn menu screen because someone mindlessly sprayed me with lead) and adding the movement back would make the experience better (Or should I say, mash my keyboard in hopes that I don't die to said mindless bullet spam or to cope with my skill issue)

Maybe a hot take but games shouldn't prioritise new players or atleast not in this way as it appears because sure its great that more people can play the game but overall it makes for a more generic game because i loved the movement that pf had and i don't think i'd be wrong in saying thats part of why it succeeded and still lives on to this day and thats because there was complexity to just the simple act of moving. It gives the game replayability and the people that like that kind of game will stick around longer so maybe in the short term there will be an increase in players but if pf continues in the direction of being more new player friendly then the hardcore fans like the the type of people to sub to a channel dedicated to pf will loose out. By no means is pf gone but continuing in this direction of simplification will lead to loosing the players that played the most.

​@@gloriousgloria917 but a naturally competetive game can't appeal to everyone because if everyone is on simple mechanics then the game becomes more 2d and while yes its easier to aim the games are less fun because theres less to do, Pong is a fair and beginner friendly game but thats because its very shallow and letting people have very free and fast paced movement isn't suddenly making their guns deal more damage so this change although it can be seen as making the game more beginner friendly, "A game for everyone is a game for no-one" - Johan Pilestedt the creative director of Helldivers 2 commenting on the difficulty of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree as the difficulty of defeating the boss is what gives the satisfaction of beating it in the first place.

I just learned some new movements and actually enabled the stamina thing for once and it made a big difference feeling more like my rank on the leaderboard (R95 been playing on and off since at least 2018/19) don't know about that anymore 😓
