Wolf is the most iconic MV from EXO but, for the wrong reasons. "Chogiwa", the "word" (its not a word, actualy) that Chanyeol says in the begining, became an icon from its own. If you search for it on Google, you'll see lots of things about the MV and music itself. Actualy, I think it was a good thing that you watched the MV before watch the show, because it helps you understand something important about EXO. They like to change the musics a lot when presenting it live, with new dance moves, new arranje, etc., cause it makes the performance more interesting. I don't deslike this MV... But I believe that most of the fans hate it because EXO members don't like it much. The members feel a little embarassed about this MV, like we all feel sometimes about things we did when teenagers. But they feel a lot more embarassed when you talk about their POWERS with them. And the powers are pictured in the MVs 'till today, so... They have to deal with it... Poor boys... XD The old fans don't mind it that much, but some of the new ones feels a bit embarassed as well. Anyways... There is a lot of things behind all this "hate".

dude i've been in the kpop fandom for so long now, i remember when this song dropped... and i gotta tell you, the leadup to this song dropping, and when it dropped, was one of the most hilarious and wild times to be in any fandom ever. exo had been hyped up through like eighty billion teasers, released their first single (mama) and their first lil album, and then nothing. radio silence. they performed a bunch and stuff but we were left waiting for another music video for SO LONG after mama came out. then, an early version of this song (just the audio) got leaked, and it was... not as good as the finished song. it sounded hilarious. people were talking about it everywhere. the translated lyrics from korean don't make much sense and there was general hysteria everywhere through the exo fandom. THEN, when the music video dropped, at least the song was better than expected but the concept still seemed so out of left field compared to what we'd seen from exo before that everyone was just... shook. plus there's the lyrics (god... the lyrics. who knows), kai's braids, and the weird feathery outfits they put d.o. in for some of the live stages... et cetera. I still feel like it's a weird period of their discography hahaha. I love Wolf so much as a song though and I feel like the live versions have given them such great vocal opportunities :)

If you haven't watched the Mama video, you should. It has a long introduction to the Exo mythos. The tree of life in Wolf is a direct reference to their concept. What weirded a lot of us out at the time was that we had just accepted that exo were aliens from an exo planet with individual super powers and suddenly they are also wolves. It was a wtf moment in fandom. It was a song that most of us from the early years grew to adore for it's very weirdness. All of their videos relate to their backstory somehow. Concepts were big back in 2012, and to truly appreciate/understand exo videos you need to understand theirs. As silly as their concept sometimes can be(and embarrassing for them), I think it adds a really fun depth to them as a whole.

What you have to remember is that every band has a meme song, either cos it doesn't take itself seriously or it tries too hard. This is that song for exo. It grew on me once I realised that, and it's genuinely the best thing to sing out loud at the top of your lungs. It is DIABOLICAL, but also the vocals are DRIPPING with talent. The live stages just really bring everything up a couple of notches. EXO has a great discography, no doubt about that... but when the boys perform it live, they make it even better. That's something no one can take away from them, they're brilliant performers and singers (and they have an amazing team working with them for their concerts). Even though MVs have the benefit of all those effects, the concert performances still leave the most impression.

The quick cuts are happening because you are watching the EXO-K version of the MV and so they are quickly cutting to show the EXO-M members who are the other half of the group. From day one EXO was split up into 2 groups: 6 of the members are part of EXO-K which is the group who sang their songs in Korean and promoted in Korea and the other 6 members (4 Chinese members who are native Mandarin speakers, along with Xiumin and Chen who are Korean but learned Mandarin as part of EXO-M ) sang those same songs in Mandarin and promoted in China. So every MV that EXO ever does will have both a Korean and Mandarin version and each one will be slightly different because the members will be featured differently in both MVs depending on the story being told and which group or members are being highlighted. Even now that 3 of the Chinese members left and they no longer are split up into separate groups, they still produce all their main tracks and every MV in both Korean and Mandarin and they film two separate MVs every time. If you watch the EXO-M version of "Wolf" you will see that not only is the song in Mandarin, but the MV will be filmed differently because it focuses more on the EXO-M members and it cuts to the EXO-K members instead.

Wolf mv release in 2013 and that permanence in 2016 last part and in music video there was 12 members but unfortunately they lost 3 members......And live was without those 3 members so it's sounds bit different.....
