Just bumped into your channel as I’m looking to get back to EVE and loving it! Especially the PI videos (will have to rewatch them when I upgrade to omega). Looking forward to the next videos!

I remember this well, walking in station. Personally, I didnt mind, remember a rumor we would have public areas besides quarters, also rumor of being able to interact/possible "kill" other characters. I also remember the constant complaining Eve wasnt sims in space but spaceships, lol.

really enjoy this series of videos Loru!! That would be Fantastic to see a video for every ship! I think you put it perfectly. There is no issue with buying plex to replace a ship, it's just a really good idea to learn to learn to fly the ship so you don't have to keep buying them over and over again. Great video sir!!

25:00 This is one of the awesome things about Old school RuneScape. In many cases, you can visually see the accomplishments of a player on their character model. There's plenty of gear you can just buy off of other players (as long as you aren't an ironman) but there's also highly coveted items which aren't tradable and require significant dedication or skill to acquire. You recognize their accomplishments immediately when you see them if you're in the know and it's a super special part of that game. Most other MMO business models don't allow for this sort of thing because, like mentioned in this video, cosmetics are a main source of income. OSRS is really only able to do it (I'm guessing) because RuneScape 3 is chocked full of MTX and arguably predatory design. It's a very interesting situation where they've had the financial freedom to sacrifice profitability of OSRS for the integrity of the experience because of other financial gains from other branches of the company.

Corpo: "it think the monitization is brilliant. The players don't." Well, guess who is right, Einstein. The customer. Which means you are selling it wrong.

Slight correction, whatever aligns with the majority of the customers is always right. As long as their bottom line is improving, then it doesn't matter what the other 49% think.

Thanks for the jita chat filter💯, the only game i think has done monetization right is Warframe because u can earn the same premiun currency by selling ingame items u grinded for. As long as there is a way ingame to earn the items im all for that.

the thing no one talks about, is that with this "Walking in Stations" update they also changed the system requirements to require a new "Shader Model". I ran the client just fine but because they wanted to ship this vanity feature, they changed the system reqs and the client wouldn't let me log in anymore, saying my computer was too old (it was a 3 year old laptop for the record). I was forced to unsub in 2011 and just returned this past month - more than 13 years they lost from me. Brain geniuses

@32:00 there's another important point you missed on how it reads. You are in my opinion only half correct in how it reads. How it reads to me: In the document they talk about how players spending money makes them feel more bonded and attached to their character so how it reads to me is ''How can we implement things in a game that makes players more addicted (Addicted is too strong of a word to use but I couldn't think of a different one to use) to playing the game''' On another level how it reads on a more subconscious level is ''oh this company is trying to control how I think and spend my money'' Which is obviously a pretty big fucking PR problem to deal with.

Yeah they call it "optics" but the optics are that it reveals they are more interested in fleeting you than making a good product.
@thegreatfacthunt77120 күн бұрын
perhaps 'Invested' might have been a better word?
@Grimjow8820 күн бұрын
nah need to be stronger than invested... perhaps compelled would be more fitting. It's sort of like how smoking used to advertise smoking as being ''cool'' and the kids would feel compelled to smoke because they want to fit in or be cool or whatever, same concept but different product

Correction: The WoW Horse - made more than SC2 WoL (According to PirateSoftware) However, later on Blizzard introduced microtransactions to Starcraft Legacy of the Void. I will eat my hat, that those microtransactions made more than most Blizzard stuff ever did.
@lorumerthgaming19 күн бұрын
That is a fair point for sure

I agree that the "walking in stations" should have been an optional interface rather than an inferior replacement to one that worked fine. It would be interesting if you could hang out with people in a pilots lounge and or play some minigames there with people or something, but even from my Earth and Beyond days, the activity seemed unnecessary. Maybe it's just me being anti social.

In my experience a mmo only gets microtransactions when its about to "Die". because the moment you put microtransactions into a game at redicilous prices you are gonna get a couple of sales of that item, no question about that.. You are gonna use the goodwill of your people they will accept it for once... But a company will get greedy and think that "OH it worked once, lets do it again" and quess what, they will do it again, what happens? New people will take 1 look in the store and disappear, nothing wrong with the game. Old people will say "Ok well we trusted you once, this is a mistake" and a lot of people will start leaving the game... Well now you have a problem, you cant attract new players to make money, you are losing players so you dont make money so the only thing you can do is keep adding microtransactions to make up for the loss. so yes microtransactions make a lot of money and some games have a lot of players to lose and will generate a lot of "right now" income... But most games dont have that playerbase to lose so they are immedately dead by greed. Very rarely have i seen microtransactions actually being healthy for the long term life of a game. and you'd think long term life of a game is more money in the long term then microtransactions are in the short.. but they are lured in by immedate profit.

I had / have zero issues with overprices cosmetics. I just dont buy them, problem solved. Gives the devs a way to make more money and hopefully put it towards the game. IMO problem is when it give some sort of power or advantage leaving no realistic way to earn it in game, which EVE doesnt do.
