I’m so tired of people thinking you can’t do anything after JP, the novels have so many interesting concepts to play with. Idk how we never got JP sequel about the animals getting off the islands and effecting the environment. Or a sequel about dinosaur trafficking ring getting busted by an undercover FBI agents. A sequel about Biosyn testing viruses on dinosaurs for research while a wildlife journalist tries to reveal this to the public. A sequel about rich people buy dinosaurs from the black market so they could make a game preserve to hunt the animals at. A sequel about a dinosaur escaping from a biosyn testing lab and terrorizing a small town. So Biosyn hires a dinosaur trafficker to find the animal while posing as a FBI agent so they don’t draw attention. Point is if you have a decent writer you can do anything.

I always thought a high-stakes JP plot would involve the DX disease from the TLW novel. It never did, of course, and the Planet of the Apes franchise did it. Curiously, by the two (great) screenwriters originally hired for JW before Colin wanted to put "his spin" on things...

The assertion of "What can you do after the first [Jurassic Park]?" is odd since TLW and JW were two of the more well-received spins on the concept of dinosaurs in modern times, relatively. Its the less-received follow-ups that's where they started to lose people. Going back to basics but doing it GREAT, as Gareth and Koepp can probably deliver on, will go a fair way in getting the train back on track. Also, I'm always surprised when people say "What new spin can you put on dinosaurs attacking humans?" Like... they're not monsters like Xenomorphs or Yautja. They're animals that lived their own lifestyles in a complex ecosystem and competed with each other for survival. What's not fascinating about that? Not that Jurassic Park/World has often delivered on that premise, but little snippets of it like predator pack behaviour or herbivores defending themselves is what separates them from movie monsters. Without that, well you get something like 65.

His complaint is honestly just plain stupid. The film just needs a good script, likable characters, dialogue that sounds natural and not forced(like the Jurassic World movies have) and good action scenes. It doesn't have to be anything crazy or try to bring a new spin or whatever. Godzilla minus 1 already proved this. Same basic story of Godzilla destroying Tokyo, but the great direction, intense action sequences and good characters made it everyone's favorite Godzilla film.

Exactly. All they need is to use some JP analog horror that’s already on YT. Or google/YT real animal attack videos. YT Ali Awada and hire him since he manages to create entire scenes. This really shouldn’t be hard to franchise.

I do love Jurassic world 2015 - although it wasn’t perfect nor was it as Jurassic in feeling, but I still loved the fresher and wide-appeal take in order to revive the Franchise worldwide. With that said, I’m excited for a new Jurassic going back to Jurassic’s roots!

They shouldn't use "Park" or "World". Just use the familiar logo and font for "Jurassic" followed by a new second word. That way you establish that this is a new era of the franchise not closely connected to the Park or World trilogies, while also making it clear that it's still part of said franchise.

I think It's really great to see a lot of studios taking big swings at their most popular film franchises and doing the back to basics approach great examples being bumblebee creed cobra kai prey and as of this comment coming soon alien Romulus all went back to what made those original concepts so beloved and appealing to audiences in the first place here's hoping the terminator franchise gets a new film recapturing the sci fi horror sespense thriller tone of the 1984 original

I hope - and would love - a film that goes back to basics in the terms of: How did the evacuation of Sorna would've been? There are besides a lot of dinosaur mayhem sequences, a big chance for intense human drama: Animal handlers and scientists leaving their animals, maybe with pressure from InGen security.People hearing the park has been destroyed (if the Nublar was hit first). What happened on Sorna in '93?

Doesn't sound like a very intellectually satisfying podcast, revelations be damned. ^^' Strangely enough I am almost always disappointed with podcasters when they tackle the franchise. One of my favourite podcasts "Best Movies Never Made" did an episode on an unproduced JPIV script and even they failed to treat the franchise with respect.

Imo opinion a new trilogy taking place between JP1-3 would be awesome. Barbasol can retrieval, site B, unexplored locations and species on Isla Nublar and Sorna. And with a darker theme like intented

They've already done too much irreversible crazy shit with the World movies, having dinosaurs all over the world and running around cities. I wouldn't be thrilled to see a continuation of that. I doubt they'd completely retcon movies either, so instead I'd love to see something that takes place in the past. For example something like after JP1 but before Lost World, seeing the aftermath of the park being ruined. Or how the new park came to be in Jurassic World. Or even the events that took place before JP1, it did take years to raise all those dinosaurs and create the park. Anything that shows the events of things that were only mentioned off-screen, in other media, promotional material, etc.

After Dominion it can’t really get much worse. I don’t have hope, dominion almost killed my interest in the Jurassic franchise as a whole, but I will wish that this one will be good. Unless they completely forget to add the dinosaurs then it can’t be worse than dominion. That’s the low bar we’re looking to clear.

If you are one of those muppets who think this series has been nothing but downhill since 1993, you've hated all of Jurassic World, You've hated CC, and CT, and aren't at all thrilled about the new JW movie in 2025... Why the F would you buy a ticket to go and see it, expecting it to be any different? Haha. I think all the movies have been a cut above average. I like World better than Park so I'm happy they are keeping the name moving forward and it is a post-Dominion film. It'll be just like all the others and I think they've cracked the code with these. If you think there is some mega masterpiece hiding in a JP/JW 7, 8, 9?... You really are chasing a dream now.

It isn’t all Colin’s fault. As Director, he naturally got the blame, but realistically it was Spielberg whom pushed for Weaponised Dinosaurs, kaiju-sized Mosasaurs and more, and universal whom have done so much else. I feel like Colin is used as a scapegoat. Name one thing that *he* did wrong.

I hope they aren't afraid to retcon things for the sake of the future of the brand. Audiences have already acclimated to the idea of alternate canons, parallel universes, etc., and I think Jurassic could really benefit from shedding some baggage in favor of an unencumbered step forward. Gareth Edwards and David Koepp leading the charge on this one already has me feeling more optimistic than I have been in the past decade.
