The “offensive” J.K. Rowling tweets: “Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?” J.K. Rowling “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.” J.K. Rowling “The idea that women like me, who’ve been empathetic to trans people for decades, feeling kinship because they’re vulnerable in the same way as women - ie, to male violence - ‘hate’ trans people because they think sex is real and has lived consequences - is a nonsense.” J.K. Rowling “I respect every trans person’s right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I’d march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.” J.K. Rowling “Trans people need and deserve protection. Like women, they’re most likely to be killed by sexual partners. Trans women who work in the sex industry, particularly trans women of colour, are at particular risk. Like every other domestic abuse and sexual assault survivor I know, I feel nothing but empathy and solidarity with trans women who’ve been abused by men.” J.K. Rowling

Things to keep in mind about Rowling is that she's been a victim of domestic abuse and sexual assault by a male partner which has fundamentally shaped her opinions on the necessity of women's rights and protections. So what do the male TRAs do? Stalk, harass, doxx, threaten, and sexually harass her. They make very violent and explicit threats of assault, murder, and sexual violence against her as well as attaching photos of their penises with those threats. Really reinforces the point she was making.

They threatened in the court room to kill my mom when she was approved for adoption court. My birth parents were evil as well. Adoptive parents are amazing people who save kids who were abused, neglected, rejected or given up by their birth parents. The foster system is rough, could be better, could be better if they stopped pushing away loving parents who want to adopt kids, but its worth it if it means thousands of kids every year get adopted. My black siblings faced racism. Mainly from black people who say they act "white". People need to stop being triggered over everything and stop hating parents for adopting black kids. Doesn't matter what the race of the parents are, as long as they're good people the kids will be alright.

I honestly think about you all more so than your own parents. Whenever I hear about an adult man transitioning, I wonder, what about his wife and children? Especially the children?! They are losing a father! I think it's one of the most selfish things a parent can do. Honestly, once children are involved, both parents give up their right to be selfish to look out for the children. Not to say that they can't have selfish moments but nothing compared to pretty much deleting the father they knew. I'm really sorry that happened. And please forgive me when I say this, but he is no man. And I don't mean that in the gendered term, just that he failed to do his duty as a father. He failed to be there for you and your siblings as the father you all deserve. He failed to be the husband that your mother needed. He should have been that man until at least you and your siblings were all out of the house and then he could have brought it up to his wife and try to do it in a better light.

@@Diablo_HimselfNO… Mothers Day was started by Anna Jarvis as a way to honor the sacrifices women made for their children in 1906. In 1914 Pres. Wilson made the second Sunday of May the National Mother’s Day we know now. By 1912 many churches had adopted it as an annual holiday though.
@Diablo_Himself5 ай бұрын
@@annamossity8879 You are looking at Mother's Day SOLELY as an American holiday. This is incorrect... "We all celebrate the day but very few people actually know its origin. The original meaning of Mothering Sunday and Mother's Day has been somewhat lost but it's still a day to solely appreciate mum." "Like many traditions and festivities, Mothering Sunday began with a religious purpose. Held on the fourth Sunday in Lent, exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday, it was a originally a day to honour and give thanks to the Virgin Mary, also known as Mother Mary. Such celebrations required people to visit their 'mother' church - the main church or cathedral in a family's area. The spread of Christianity throughout Europe in the 16th century increased the celebrations and firmly put Mothering Sunday on the calendar. It was believed to be essential for people to return to their home 'mother' church to make it a true family honoured occasion." Those who visited their "mother" church, would often pick flowers in the churchyard and go visit their mother too, hence the first mothers day GIFTS as well.

@@Diablo_Himself "Mother's Day" Has many different origins. Its different for many cultures. No specific one is the correct one or even the original one. You, yourself, are also trying to look at it "solely" from a European perspective and ignoring other cultures and religions who have also been celebrating mothers on certain days far longer than the one you are attempting to attribute as the first. THIS VIDEO SPECIFICALLY is talking about the American holiday. Nothing to do with the church. The national holiday. So you are the one who is incorrect. A lot of other countries as well have adopted the american version of "mother's day" and attribute the specific traditions and values to the woman the other commenter mentioned as well. Maybe you are the one who needs more perspective? For your information the very earliest signs anyone has found in recorded history of a day to celebrate mothers has been in ancient Greece. And it is still widely debated that it goes back even farther. Long before the UK adopted theirs. And long before the American one started being adopted around the world. Maybe you should go read a book.

My gran died alone in hospital during covid and didn't even have covid. She had a fractured vertebra. They took her into hospital in August. She was in there by herself with no visitors until she died in October. The last i saw of her alive was a scared 80 year old woman being put into the back of an ambulance and the next time i saw her was when the hospital let us onto the ward to see her dead body. Then we were only allowed a dozen people at her funeral. Her own great grandchildren (some of whom were teenagers and adults) couldn't go to her funeral. Her friends couldn't go to her funeral. And four years later i still haven't been able to properly mourn for her because of how inhumane her death was. Veterinarians tell you not to let your pets die alone and to be with them but we let thousands of people die by themselves without family or friends. And though i've managed to bury that anger so i can still function day to day it meant burying the grief too instead of letting it work its way through like it's supposed to. Also other family members had to be hospitalized, died and were tagged as COVID when it wasn't what killed them. It was such a shitty time, still is, to be honest. But i think we need to go on with our lives, we win nothing feeling like this about something that's out of our scope of influence. I hope you have someone around you to give you space to vent and help when you're feeling there's too much to handle. Because it's not easy alone.

I’m adopted from Siberia. I was born in ‘96 and was adopted in ‘98. The orphanage I was in was an old bomb shelter where there were so many of us that we barely survived. My mother said when she was there she was surrounded with people dying on the streets from starvation or disease. They told my parents to just step over them. It was a dictatorship communist country that I was lucky to escape from. They would try to sell us twice . They would steal you back when you were are the airport . My mom ran and got on the plane to Paris and she said she sobbed from relief when they got there. It’s worse than any American ghetto in the poorest parts of America are better than where I came from. We didn’t have money so we boiled potatoes and called it milk it was the only thing we had. I didn’t know how to walk when my mom got me because the nuns didn’t have time to teach us. My mother said I did not cry and it would scare her and make her think I died. I’ve never been a super emotional person. The only time my mom heard me cry was when I met my dad because it was the first time I had seen a man. I love my parents and they are amazing people with such special hearts. Learning how to be an American kid took time but now I have it down. I’m so lucky , I am one of the few survivors who are loved and taken care of by amazing parents. When people complain about the government and say we should be communists I get infuriated and these dumb Americans have no idea what true oppression, homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, body shaming, mental and physical warfare . So if you hate America I will buy your ticket to Siberia.

So in a lesbian relationship, if you didn’t know, one of the women can be pregnant and then will go trough " motherhood " like women in heterosexual relationship, does that mean that you find it also offensif that the women who did not carried the child in the lesbian relationship, want to also be called " mom " by her child? I was adopted by my foster family but my family was broken and now my mind is broken but I am alive. But had I not been adopted because my black family abandoned a baby I would have died, but my WHITE mom saved me. Adoption is not a bad thing, people should adopt, it really helps. I will adopt or foster kids to help because i know what it did for me.

It wasn't until the 1900s that women were legally allowed to wear pants. In France, in the 1800s, women needed a permit, from the police, to wear pants in public. People need to learn history.

I had a friend who’s dad transitioned. He got angry at her when she called him dad, and she walked in on him trying on her clothes. She was a friend who always joked and never let anything get serious so she said it in passing.. but it carried serious hurt and trauma and I felt so horrible for her. We were adults too, 18 or 19. I can’t imagine the confusion and damage it caused to an 8 year old :(

For her father to get angry when she misgenderered him (which was most likely done on accident, mind you) is pretty bad in itself, but trying on HER clothes is borderline fucking creepy. I'm sorry for your friend.

Literally. It's unrealistic to think everyone is going to conform to the same opinions and values. That's not how humanity is. So much of this negativity and fear and division could be lowered if we just accepted that other opinions exist.

I feel the same way....ish.... 12 years ago my son aged 5½ died. (This is not for sympathy btw I'm just explaining) I was in such bad denial, grief, trauma etc that I am now unwell. One by one I was diagnosed with autoimmune disorders, gained weight, lost my confidence, lost the plot. During that same period of time I was supporting my daughter who'd left her violent husband and had twin boys who were 18 months old at the time. At one point her ex husband broke into my home to attack her, it was bad, although he ended up leaving with way more injuries than he managed to inflict. Following on from that she remarried and over the years since has had 3 more children with her second husband. For reference, I had my daughter aged 18, single Mum. I had my son, aged 36, married. I met my now ex husband when my daughter was 15½. She was jealous from day one, he was the only man she had seen me with. In hindsight I'd have probably done better to have a different boyfriend every week perhaps...but I adamantly refused to be that kind of Mum, and because of my young age, went over and above to excel at Motherhood, not just barely scrape by as most people had likely expected from an 18 year old. I had a couple of short term boyfriends over the years but until I was sure he was gonna be The One, he wasn't gonna be meeting MY baby! As she got a little older I gave up boyfriends altogether and concentrated on being a Mother and working on myself. When my daughter hit her teens she went downhill, and skidded so far off the rails it gave ME whiplash. If I told you everything I'd be here all week, but let's just say she was CONTINUALLY being arrested and rarely came home at all let alone on time. Eventually when I was 34, I met my (now ex) husband at a friend's house, I'd been celibate for 9 years at that point, not even a kiss since I'd been 26, and for the first time in all those years felt interested. He was a lot younger than me so I presumed it would only be a fling, but whereas I'd been a late starter sexually and celibate for years, he'd been a very early starter sexually and had enough of empty flings. I was 34 he was 22, I was like a shy teen, he was like a cynical old man. 😂 He actually proposed after 3 weeks, we did both genuinely just "know". We planned to get married the following year, and during the planning found out I was pregnant. A few months later at the scan found my baby had died inside of me but wasn't making any plans to leave me, which broke my heart. I had to have an operation for what is called a "missed miscarriage". Our wedding plans had been cancelled as it would have clashed with my due date, now I had neither to look forward to. Fast forward six months and we replanned our wedding. This would now be for the following year. We booked the church, reception, hotel, caterers etc...found out I was pregnant again! By this point my daughter was 17 and in a young offenders prison type of place, so we planned to move out of our large town to somewhere smaller. For two reasons, first I didn't want my son to eventually go off the rails too, so wanted a more quiet family oriented town, and secondly I wanted to give my daughter somewhere new to come home to, and avoid the people she'd known before. My son's birth was 11 weeks before our wedding, which didn't give me long to get down into my dress lol, but we weren't cancelling AGAIN, so I bought one the next size up and just rolled with it. My beautiful boy arrived on time, and we had such a lovely wedding, he was our tiny page boy and my daughter was home and restarting her life, and was our bridesmaid. 5½ years later our son got extremely ill with chickenpox and died two weeks later in my arms. My daughter was living with us with her twins having left her husband, and all that fiasco of him breaking in happened the month following my son's funeral. My health began to go downhill, my doctors explained that prolonged high level stress releases a ton of cortisol in the brain which triggers the immune system to go nuts. First it was fibromyalgia, then spinal wear, gallstones, hernia, womb issues (awaiting hysterectomy for post menopausal bleeding - endometrial [pre-cancerous] hyperplasia), under active thyroid, womb polyps, bowel polyps and Crohn's Disease! I promise you I'm NOT a hypochondriac. If I was at least I'd only have one thing to battle right? Breakfast is 27 pills, I have to have blood tests and B12 injections every 3 months at the doctors, and also do injections at home once a fortnight. (Biologics) The death of our son changed both me and my husband understandably, although we hung on in there. In 2019 my Mum died, and I almost split up with my husband after that, which my daughter supported as she'd always held resentment towards him, but then COVID broke. Being autoimmune and locked up as vulnerable, we didn't end up breaking up and instead tried to use the opportunity to reconnect with each other romantically and sexually. My daughter stopped talking to me, but it's easy to judge when you're healthy, have a healthy husband and five healthy children! How exactly could I change the circumstances of a worldwide pandemic? Obviously the pandemic affected the strongest couples out there, let alone our broken selves. My husband had started secretly using drugs too, and got sucked into conspiracy theories during lockdown watching far too many bullshit KZbin videos. He was spending money we didn't have and became a man I no longer recognised. Towards the end he'd started becoming abusive towards me too, so 2½ years ago I finally kicked him out. My daughter, son in law and five grandchildren live literally five minutes stroll from my house, although I can no longer stroll that far anyway, and besides, she still won't talk to me. I don't see any of them anymore. I still have my Dad who is 90, who I see once or twice a fortnight, but other than that I live alone. I do my best to keep up with cleaning my home and doing the garden etc, but it's very hard going physically, and even on my least painful days it's a struggle to push myself emotionally enough to even care. Sorry for waffling on all of that, but at 54 now, I feel surplus to requirements, I'm a Mother and Grandmother technically and yet neither in actuality. My arms still long to hold my 5 year old son, despite it being his 18th birthday next month. The daughter I devoted my life to and who my whole world revolved around wants nothing to do with me. The marriage that felt so right, managed to survive 15 years, (and 17 years total together in all) had everything stacked against it to fail. Just like you I wish a family would adopt me too, except I'm not a child. I think there are plenty of people who feel the same way even though they are fully grown adults. I miss babies and children. I was born maternal and knew I wanted to be a Mother from when I was around age 5. I miss being married too, (although technically I still am....must get the divorce sorted! 😂) but I was not prepared to continue to be a wife to a man who had stopped being the husband I deserved. I don't know what the future holds for me, but I feel like I'm staring into a big black hole of nothingness ahead of me. People could say, maybe try to reconnect with your daughter but I don't even know if it's salvageable, and besides I don't know if I want to try again. She's been on/off with me since she was a teenager and it's always been me who attempts the first move. I'm always then wondering where I stand and how long before she drops me again. I never feel secure even when we HAVE got on for periods of time over the years. If I never know where I stand with her anyway, what's the point? In some ways she's a mature 35 year old and in other ways she's a deeply bitter 15 year old still inside. Anyway, I'll give your ears a rest now sweetheart. But I do understand your loving, family-oriented, yearning heart. You're not alone in this, psychologically at least. We somehow have to try and make the best of what life throws at us - whilst remembering we shouldn't have to lower ourselves to be a "performing seal" in order to be thrown a scrap of fish 🐟 from people who couldn't care less about us. Sending you a big, tight, loving and lengthy Mummy hug, holding your face, brushing the hair out your eyes and delivering a sweet kiss on the tip of your nose. You deserve to be loved and I hope you find the place where you feel you are wanted and belong. 😘 xxxxx
