Many of those rectangular holes in the walls are from fans taking a chunk of history. Kurt liked to write on walls. Back in the Spaulding apartment, he wrote "Helen Skelter" and "Nation of Ulysses" on the wall and fireplace.

So much potential for a fixer upper and historical value. I can't believe it's being knocked down. It doesn't look dilapidated and the history behind it (being built in 1921 and In Utero being mainly written within those walls) make it worthy of another chance of life. It might be rough now but with the right people and amount of work, it could be stunning.

The most effective method to tear down and rebuild may be to helicopter the demolished debris down and then helicopter the new building materials up. That will cost insane money, though. Especially if the bulldozer must be helicoptered up. Of even more interest would be to learn exactly how the house was built a century ago without anything even close to today's technology.
@rockessentialswithtim7102 жыл бұрын
@@jongibson2205 Good point about how did they do it a century ago.
@synchronicity14708 ай бұрын
@@jongibson2205 well for starters, the Hollywood Bowl bandshell wasn't built until 1926, although the property was an arts venue as far back as 1916. Kurt's home was built 1921. So there was better access for building it back then. The house also had a one car garage but way down below. So actually, whoever approved the building of the concert parking lot f'd up I would say, as it cut off access for a drivable approach for major construction access and GL, what about fire emergency access for those houses? A great shame to see this house go. There was SO MUCH more to Kurt Cobain than people realize.

Cost would be high, the location makes it hard to bring in the raw materials and machinery. Plus, restoration that is historically accurate will be a lot. Finally, quake reinforcement, permits, inspections, etc- at least a million, making the place cost $15000 a month mortgage. Not high for LA but hard to get to and your friends would never come visit.
