Also another thing to add the "pagos" from Terapagos refers to the galapagos archipelago where one of the saddest things about it was that the Giant Galapagos Turtle only had one living specimen till sometime ago,a male that unfortunely passed away thus making the species extinct The fact that the Terapagos we met might as well be the last one could be in reference to that

To clarify, it was one variety/possible subspecies of the Galapagos tortoise that had one individual left, many others still survive. Also, "galapagos" simply means "tortoise" in Spanish (i.e. the Paldea region), so the name would apply regardless of any connection to the Galapagos islands.

I think the "fossils" of the extinct Terapagos are the Terastal crystals scattered around Paldea. Terapagos's dormant form is a crystal, so when one dies maybe all of that energy is released into the environment and manifests as "dead" crystals. These crystals would be dated in modern times to figure out how long ago they lived
@MegaBakuganfreak Жыл бұрын
To take that idea even further since we know there were a bunch of them before I think not only are they the crystals they are able to “come to life” when we terastilize and basically they have become Tera energy. Whenever we use Tera once the orb fills with the energy on the inside of that ball it’s a terapagos shell like the one we find. And then the eyes on the crown from any type we use is the terapagos.

It's kind of crazy to think how powerful this little turtle guy is. It is able to displace people, Pokemon and items through time and space even possibly from other timelines. It is able to stabilize seismic activity by creating crystals. In fact, those crystals are powerful enough on their own to create a functioning AI and a time machine. It can break its own Pokeball, EVEN IF IT'S A MASTER BALL. Some of its most pure crystals can create a mask so powerful that even a few of them can make Ogerpon a force to be reckoned with. Terapagos is a Pokemon of unrestrained power within a tiny turtle body.
@meatkirbo Жыл бұрын
So my theory about why it’s there is basically said in the video: It can crystallize energy, and we find it initially in a crystal form, so maybe it, in a last ditch attempt to protect itself, tried to do that to itself. And it succeeded, but had no way to undo it without external help due to being young and inexperienced with this power. So when Kieran pulls it away from crystals it formed in the process (disconnecting it from the energy locking it in place maybe) it reverted, and came back to life in its original, youthful looking form. I believe this would line up with its imminent battle, as it lost control of a sudden major influx of energy from terastalizing after being asleep for so long. After we forcefully calm it down, it learns to control the energy, and can safely enter that form. (Why we’re still allowed to use it after)
@cis22 Жыл бұрын
I also heard from somewhere that Terapagos' Stellar Form is based on the Chinese dragon turtle. Figurines of dragon turtles often feature a large turtle sitting on top of treasure (usually coins) and there's a smaller turtle on its back. So the thing Terapagos is sitting on may not be a planet or an even larger turtle. It's supposed to represent treasure.
@geroshand8623 Жыл бұрын
Exactly! There’s another theorist who stated the Orb may be treasure, like a Faberge Egg, a form of jeweled treasure that could go along with the ‘Crown’. There’s also another theorist who said the Sphere, with it’s weird spikes poking down at the bottom of the model, could be something called the ‘Firmament’, an ancient depiction of how the ancients perceived the world that would fit the dex entry, better than turtles all the way down does.
@michichuuu Жыл бұрын
Seismic shifts being mentioned in the Pokédex entry is interesting phrasing considering Terapagos’ ability is called Tera Shift (Tera could be derived from Terra, which is Latin for “earth”)… and Terapagos changing into its Stellar form, the ground starts to break apart near Carmine… is this a coincidence? What if Terapagos shifting into its Stellar form in Paldea causes a seismic shift so powerful that it makes a female Terapagos in Unova fall into the Earth… creating the loop all over again for the female Terapagos to be discovered as a lost treasure, like the Terapagos in Paldea was discovered?
@dinoszografos3244 Жыл бұрын
Terapagos being only male in the story is a reference to lonesome George, the last male of his species that sadly passed away not too long ago but thankfully we found a female and had frozen sperm and were able to produce baby tortoises. A giant Galapagos island tortoise. It's a treasure because it's basically extinct and should be protected as one just like a real life animal that is nearing extinction. This only one part of it's inspirations.

Something I thought of while watching this, makes it even more sad, the Tera Orbs have gems inside of them that are shaped like baby Terapagos’s shell. When turtles die and their bones scatter over time, you’re left with an empty shell. If the little guy really is the last of his kind, then that means manual Terastization is possibly triggered via Terapagos fossils.

That's how they did dynamaxing in Pokémon Masters. They literally had to introduce some random wild Eternatus that Leon eventually catches in order to explain how trainers in the game can dynamax even when they're not in Galar. Maybe this is the key to revisiting old battle gimmicks. Just always involve Necrozma, Eternatus, Terapagos, and/or whoever is in charge of mega evolution in a post-game story or something. They bring back a bunch of legendaries in one go every generation anyway. Might as well make the ones tied to old battle gimmicks grant you their powers. Then for balance reasons, the protag can only use one mechanic at a time. We know that Paldea and Kitakami had some connection to crystals way before 2 million years ago as Carbink, which is found in Oni Mountain and the underpaths, is said to have formed deep underground hundreds of millions of years ago and that somewhere in the world there is a large mineral vein housing packs of carbink. Terapagos might have been the origin for every known gimmick so far since gen 5. Starting from the elemental boosting gems from gen 5, mega stones from gen 6, Z-crystals from gen 7, gigantamax is from eternatus, and now gen 9 for terrastilize. This might be a stretch, but instead of unknown, Terapagos or at least the great ancestor to is could be the "hands of Arceus" which would make much more sense as, from what we know, Unknown are only able to create perfect illusory substances that don't last very long while Terapagos can seemingly produce a near infinite amount of energy. That would also coincide with the whole turtles on turtles thing as the "Hands" of Arceus wouldn't just create the world but physically hold the world together, hence why we aren't able to "see" them. This would also but eternatus into perspective since it is a literal hand maybe making the "dominate hand" of Arceus much like how most of us have a dominant hand. Of course there is evidence against this, and a lot of it at that but I think it could be something cool to think about.

this is an absolute crack theory but what if the globe / hill terapagos sits on in its stellar form is area zero? like the land mass that is missing from the crater??
@torterratortellini664111 ай бұрын
Theory: Paldea and Kitakami were once the same region and Terapagos lived there in the crystal pool until the seismic shift (Which split Kitakami apart from Paldea). One fell into an empty cave (Which will eventually be known Area Zero) and protected itself by using terastal energy which formed into solid crystals. And for extra protection, it summoned the Paradox Pokemon to keep the exploration team away from it (This is why Heath was able to meet the Paradox Pokémon) but later fell asleep and so no Paradox Pokémon were being brought into Area Zero because they either died/broke down (if they were from the future), escaped from Area Zero, or retreated into the Underdepths. Also what if Great Tusk/Iron Treads are the highest ranking Paradox Pokémon according to Terapagos? I ask this question because in some interpretations of the World Turtle Myth, The Turtle is carrying Elephants on its shell which carry the earth for The World Turtle.

The thing is, there actually might be more. In fact, that entire cavern may be a bundle of Terapagos all in their crystal state. Even if its been lying dormant for centuries or a millennia, the amount of crystalized energy that covers nearly the entire surface of the crater is insane and couldn't possibly come from 1 single little guy just resting in hibernation. Chances are, if people were to keep digging and possibly break away at the crystal near the core, you could probably find more and more Terapagos, all sheltering themselves using those energy tera crystals.
@ryanegeler6059 Жыл бұрын
An idea I have about the extinction of Terapagos is that during the earthquake that caught all of them by surprise some were able to turn themselves into crystals kinda like how you see the different crystal formations in Area 0. Think of that state as a kind of hibernation, however since a lot of the Terapagos were caught in the fissures during the earthquake ("seismic event") they couldn't remain in that state as long as the one we find in the game could, and over time due to erosion, and more sediment is layered on top of them that's how the Tera Crystals were formed, along with some caves lets say when explorers are trying to find fossils, and maybe some fossils that were found could be completely fossilized Terapagos in their "hibernation" but died because they couldn't reawaken themselves for whatever reason. And the reason Terapagos wasn't found sooner was that the scientists, and other adventurers who stumbled upon the fossilized Terapagos just didn't know at the time it was a pokemon, and either left it, or sold it as just some really pretty crystal.

Did the Pokémon Company explore the origins of types before gen 9? Because if not, I feel like Terapagos as a species is meant to be that explanation, like Mew is a nearly extinct species that became all the pokémon we see, Terapagos is a nearly extinct species that help spread the powers of types to other pokémon in ancient times.

Torterra's Scarlet Pokedex entry supports this theory of how the Ancient people saw the World and how they saw Terapagos in the lore of the game!! It was a really cool find!!

What if the mini terapagos guy on the stellar tera type is a fossil of a deceased terapagos

The whole thing about 'Turtles all the way down' and the World Turtle idea could work. In some Asian beliefs, The world turtle a huge turtle with 3 elephants on top that support the world. All the stuff about the seismic changes and him hibernating in the earth, plus the stellar form's orb that resembles a planet, all of this could line up.

I think it would have been a nice idea to introduce Terapagos in Area Zero without it terastalizing. However, if you bring Terapagos back after completing The Indigo Disk, the crystals jutting from the ground become undone and you encounter the Terapagos Heath drew
@Ty-lr1uw Жыл бұрын
Seems like thats how they will introduce terapagos into future games. A random new cave pops up post game, briar shows up and tells you about an abnormal terastal energy reading and shes needs your help investigating. And boom terapagos in now available in any region gamefreak wants.
@Jake38nine Жыл бұрын
It kinda makes sense that Terapagos goes crazy with this theory because it's supposed to be a peaceful, neutral pokemon, but then you use your teraorb on it, it absorbs all that energy after being dormant for thousands of years or more, it cannot handle the power and goes berserk.
@jakeoruru2475 Жыл бұрын
What if the Terrapagos that heath saw was a full adult hence him being amazed and the one we find is like a fresh hatchling that it had kept safe. Instead of the crystals being a last effort defensive attack. What your seeing is the burrows ancient Terrapagos used for their young like real tortoise burrows

Maybe we get a second terapagos to fuse with the first / vice versa to give the full globe on the terastal form like shown in the book, as the current one looks like it has been shattered in half , maybe the fact we got both of the fuse legendaries (kyurem / necrozma) at the end of the dlc forebodes this?

About a cave with crystals in Unova, Chargestone Cave is filled with electrified crystals and you can fine gem items in there as well. Another cave that is not Unova, but Kalos with crystallized walls is the reflection cave where Carbink and Gem-obssessed Sableyes dwell in.

Am I the only one who feels like GF is cooking up something bigger for a future game since the 3DS released? Since Gen 6, there always been: A gimmick that transforms the pokémon. The gimmick is related to a crystal/rock. The crystal/rock came from a meteor. The crystal/rock also is related to some kind of parallel universe/timeline. The legendary master of that specific gen is somehow related to the meteor. You can check that with every single Pokémon game released since X/Y in a way or another.

Tbh, I'd like to know why Terapagos instinctively runs towards the player when awakened. Seems odd to me that a dormant creature kept well away from humans under the guard of some mighty tera Pokémon would immediately rush to the side of a human.

i LOVE this idea even though how sad it is T o T but it means that heath probably saw an adult terapagos !! i really hope they keep expanding on the lore and connecting the games. also pretty sure terapagos is also from space it fell from a meteor, it just lived in paldae for millions of years
@rosenrot234 Жыл бұрын
Heath falling down and not remembering how could also just be a sad lil hint with terapagos. Maybe it was an egg and it fell. So Terapagos wouldn't know how it fell down after it hatches.

I love how excited you get about this idea - it’s contagious and speaking to my heart 💜 YES we need to wake the terrapagos crystals in Lost Crystal Cave and repopulate the species! There has to be more to this mysterious lore! It’s too intricate! Clever young man, very clever but It’s TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN 🐢 🐢 🐢 I read that joke/metaphor in the introduction of Stephen Hawking’s A brief history of time and it’s stuck with me - I ❤️ that you knew it and quoted it right when I was thinking about it!! Small universe...

Terapagos went into slumber to protect itself after encountering hostile outsiders, I wonder who the hostile outsiders were? Ancient people? Ancient Team Rocket? Heath? Sada/Turo? The Loyal Three?

“Turtles all the way down” is a saying I’ve never heard of, but it’s pretty silly. It reminds me of Terry Pratchett’s Disk World series, where the world is a disk being carried on top of a bunch of elephants standing on a giant turtle in space.
@aestheticallymeme6614 Жыл бұрын
I think its worth noting that the "seismic shifts" that made it sink into the Earth could be from the 4 relics of destruction. We know that their power was able to drastically change the environment of Paldea and it happened in "Ancient Paldea". Idk, something to ponder ig. 😊
@littledevildarlin414 Жыл бұрын
I also wonder if what the Scarlet entry is referencing is that maybe the Paldea map looks like a Terapagos with the center being the crown or centerpiece of it and maybe that they saw Terapagos as their land or another idea is that maybe the stellar form represents the world under Terapagos under Paldea that looks like another Terapagos. Also I read the book about "Turtles all The Way Down" aswell and yes the main idea is that the world is supported by turtles, but in the book it also is used as an example that no matter how much you try or search down to find a beginning or core answer to something, that you'll never find it, there will always be more turtles.
@jamesperrott1 Жыл бұрын
wow that turtle all the way down thing really makes sense for it
@angelsartandgaming Жыл бұрын
To add to that world turtle thing, there's a book series by Terry Pratchett called the Discworld series. The main setting is a flat earth on top of four elephants and of course, the world turtle Great A'tuin (and also what I nicknamed my own Terapogos). It's not the only world turtle but there's many others throughout the universe. It's been a very long time since I've read the books, but the fact that the Stellar spinning disc, Terapogos' tera form, as well as the name of the DLC Indigo Disc reminded me of Discworld.

I really like your theory here! What if the reason as to why Sada/Turo created the Time Machine was to actually try and find a Terapagos and bring to their time line. 🤷🏾 but your theory kinda made me thought of that
@aldingess1248 Жыл бұрын
Maybe the reason we dont have any regional fossils this gen is because of Terrapagos? The large crystals we see underground could be asleep/dead ancient terrapogos who are large due to age. I find it hard to believe that one Pokémon, especially one as small as him, could generate all those crystals to such an expansive degree. Maybe ancient paldeans brought terrapogos’ to kitakami to try and develop other regions and thats how the crystal pool came to be, it was a sacred resting ground for the terrapogos
