There is no excuse for how Zeb Wells wrote Doc Ock in these two issues. See, during the Beyond Corporation story arc in AMS, it was Zeb Wells who brought in Doc Ock as a villain. But the thing is he didn’t write him like in these issues. He wrote him well as, like you said, a supervillain with emotional development. Previously, Doc Ock attacked the Beyond Corporation for stealing his work from the Parker Industries era, not to fight Spider-Man. So, when he does fight Ben, it’s incidental and he doesn’t go all out. He actually tries to talk to Ben at some points and only at the end when Ben beats him does Ock truly get the chance to let him know what’s really going on. But here? It’s like Zeb Wells just decided to hard reset Doc Ock’s personality so he can be classic Doc Ock again for a “fun story.” If Zeb Wells wanted, like Black Cat suggested, a fun palette cleanser story, then he should’ve chosen a more appropriate villain.

I may not like Dan's take on Peter but hes perfect for Ock. Heck he saved Eddie's (my favorite character) character development, solidifying him as a good guy, so I have no doubt he can save what seems to be his favorite character.

Actually Venom is the most emotionally developed villian. Venom/Eddie haven't been beefing with peter for years their doing their own thing trying to make things right especially with Eddie as the new king in black.

That would require them to be villains, like the Punisher or Black Cat or Black Widow, or Hawkeye or Deadpool, etc. both Eddie and the symbiote outgrew that role and permanently changed their status quo from anti-villains to anti-heroes. Its why most adaptions of Venom (including the upcoming Spider-Man 2) are so disappointing because they commonly change the character to just be a fully evil villain. (and by doing this so much has utterly warped people's perception of the character)

I’m surprised Zeb Wells has reverted Otto back to his classic self when he was in Beyond and was pretty important to that story, not to mention was written less like a story for 5 year olds Ed McGuiness’s art was great too

Yeah Otto acting crazy and probably learn the error of his ways, or not. I haven’t read the new issue but I do believe you. Also Felicia I don’t know about her in these issues, sure she wanted to help yes I love that. But again her age seems a bit young apart from the four years Peter skip and I wish there was more to them in the comics. Like a date that hasn’t gone wrong, (like the spa). Like to me I think Felicia is the third best girl for Peter and they do have some things in common. But unfortunately this is a spider man comic and not everything good last.

I would not mind Peter becoming his own "Goblin" then it is up to Norman/Gold to stop him. However such is not enough and he needs one "Spider-Man" to wake Parker's senses. He calls in for Otto to step up once again...to become THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN (have Slott's run this time use Paul as a conduit for Rabin to give back the Elliot/Clone body he obtained then lost due to the Mephisto bargain).

I saw a video by Godzilla Mendoza that brought up a really great point, The "recent" decline in Spider-Man comics isn't Zeb Wells fault, nor is it Dan Slott or Nick Spencer, it's Marvel themselves, like if it wasn't Wells who fcked up these stories even more it would've just been someone else, I'm not saying that this run is any less terrible than it is rather the main issues (that stem from the direction) aren't entirely the fault of Zeb Wells and we have to remember he's just another cog in the machine that is continuing to kick Spider-Man fans in the balls, it's sad but it's true, but as of now Marvel will continue to put Peter in the same shitty situation with the same shitty stories probably as long as they possibly can and while I'm all for hating this comic run we have to at least be considerate to the fact that Zeb Wells is just a guy

Considering how Doctor Octopus once tried to poison the Daily Bugle's newsprint in an annual and given how many times supervillains have threatened him, I think Jameson would be much more likely to believe it was some sort of mind game or plot being used against him. He'd probably try to beat the tentacles with a baseball bat or call the cops if they stuck around for too long. I'd have the tentacles break into Jameson's apartment, attach themselves to him to hide from Doc Ock...and then have JJ figure out their motives through observation (once he's done freaking out, of course). Maybe have a reveal in a previous issue that he's keeping one of the tendrils hidden beneath a coat while he goes out in public, only to follow it up in the next with a full splash page reveal of Jameson and Doc Ock's damaged tentacles. Maybe have his trust of them be based less on sympathy and more an arrogant/prideful belief that he can control them and use them for good.

I also maintain this story think it’s funny but it isn’t funny I am not laughing like at all and is basically bad comedy which isn’t funny like at all, and frankly I can’t take this nonsense with Spider-Man anymore like at this point I hate to say it but maybe it’s time to give up on this title and forget this series had ever happened from the very beginning.

Think that Jameson was using The Tentacles as a Pet. Really, the Tentacles have been just walking amongst itself. And at times visited Jameson and bond with him as it Tries to move along. Having itself be a Pet while Jameson gets Lonely. Really.....

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I actually enjoyed the relationship between Peter and Felicia. I’m not happy about why they were brought together, but I do enjoy how they treat one another. It’s one of the only positives Peter currently has in his life. Felicia cares for him, worries about him, and it feels organic and natural. I know people say Felicia will dump him because she’s a rebound, but _Felicia_ was the one who instigated the relationship. She knew was she was getting into. Also reading the MJ and Black Cat Dark Web tie in makes me believe that Peter and MJ won’t be back together. I also know others have repeatedly said that they’ll get back together, but exactly how long did it take for them to get together again? I’m not optimistic on that.

To be honest I'm fine with where Norman's at as a character. He doesn't have to be forgiven for his past actions, but he can be accepted as a man who can do better for the sake of the people he fucked up. I think that's a good shift. A man who doesn't want to go back to being a monster so he won't keep terrorizing more lives and ruining the memories of the people he's killed is a good transition, we really don't want evil goblin back let's be fucking honest guys. Do you WANT to keep torturing Pete as much as the Editorial?

I really love Spider-Man and Black Cat together as a couple. I love them being the crime-fighting dynamic duo they are and I love what Zeb Wells has done with their relationship. I hope we get to see more of them together going forward in the story. I actually really love them together and I actually think she’s a better love interest for Peter than MJ, Gwen, Liz and others

I feel your ire for Paul. Truth be told, I haven’t read comics for a while due to all the “Wokeness.” But I check in every once in a while, to see if things have improved. And despite not even reading about the guy, I can’t stand him. The Green Goblin/Spidey fight better be good. Because if it isn’t. Nah I thought issue 27 was bad this is even worse lol. I’ve been trying to support some aspects but Zeb Wells is not it. The Jonah stuff and the Doc Ock stuff just don’t make sense and is poorly written. Also can Spider-Man actually win one fight in this run. He has lost to every single Villain he has fought, Zeb doesn’t understand this character at all, supposedly Marvel flagship smh
